God, I hate car rides. So boring. Long. Boring. Oh, did I mention boring? Even if I am going to a school that will make my Olympic dreams come true. Even if it involves skiing. And my favorite country. I have been told "That's....... Ambitious..?" By adults. Even some of my friends. But I (tried to) Ignore them. And another thing? Why does Minnesota have to be so DARN far from Vancouver? Oh, I see, it's just so strange for a Minnesotan to become a medalist for Team Canada? Well, if you knew me, it would be different. I have been training for this since I was ten years old. The tryouts are two years from now. It is 2018. The schooling I will get here is amazing. Skiing right away. Then first hour. Then skiing. Then second hour. Then skiing. Repeat. Amazing, didn't I tell you?
Anyways.
We've been at the border for at least an hour. And the line isn't thinning.
I've been listening to an audiobook.
The seventh Harry Potter book.
By we, I mean me, my mom, dad, sister, and friend.
My friend, Audrey, is a ski racer. She is going to the school with me, so we're carpooling.
I've been to the mountains a couple times. I have some experience with mountain skiing.
I am still nervous.
This is our second day driving.
We started heading north at 5:00 am. We ate some bagels from Bruggers, then drove. We stopped at Lutsen Mountains, the only decent elevation in Minnesota. we skied for the rest of the day and stayed the night there.
This morning we kept driving, after a free continental breakfast at the hotel.
We stopped in Ely for lunch, and headed west from there, to get to a formal place to cross.
We are at a point now, less than a mile away from Manitoba. From there we will go to Winnipeg and take a plane from there to Vancouver.
My sister and Dad are driving. My sister likes hotels. meanwhile, Audrey, My mom, and I will stay in Vancouver. We're going to be in Vancouver for a week until our school starts.
We're gonna ski. The hotel is near the resort; Big White.
I'm not yet sure what I think about Vancouver.
I've heard good and bad things.
Ah well.
