Raising a hand to cover the candle from a blow of the wind, Elliot walked towards his room. He had only reached th second step when his mother called from the kitchen. Her lips moved as she read the note in her hand. Raina, his sister, flickered Elliot on the back of his head. They both just stood shoulder by shoulder until their mother spoke. Quietly, they caught up to every word she said. Their mother had been given news about another death in the town. This had been happening for about a week now. After every three days someone was either reported dead or someones arm had been chopped off. This was the main reason why for the past week the whole town was on black out. After nodding to every word and precaution their mother gave them, Elliot and Raina went back to their rooms.
In his room, Elliot pondered over the rumour about a hound causing all this chaos and how everyone talked about how this was no regular alpha from the pack. This hound had a certain way to lead the prey to it. It had created such illusions that even the brighest minds could be fooled by it. The people their mother was reading about earlier had fell into its trap and were slit like goats.
However this charm of the hound had come with some weakness. Rumour also had it that it was blinded by the dark. So the people of the town had cut the main wires and no shadows were now made.
Hunters wanted an arch right through the hounds heart so everyone can lead the previous normal lives they had.
The knock on the door made Elliot jump up a bit. His mother had told him about the low on food they were. She left the room after Elliot told her to be safe.
Elliot later that night had a dream that woke him up. Sweat droplets ran down his spine as he tried to catch his breath sitting up. He worked his way down the stairs for a glass of water. He fetched a candle out of the cupboards. Pouring the water he heard screaming from afar. He rushed towards the kitchen window hitting himself in the process. He heard footsteps rushing downstairs. He glanced out the window and the scene that confronted him left his mouth ajar. What he saw was what looked like his moms slender body being torn into shreds by the beast everyone rumoured about. Without thought Elliot jumped out the window, hurting himself in the process. He ran so fast west, outcoming tears rolled to the back of his head. But as he ran the image faded until no more of the violence could be seen. Elliot just stood there in the dark until he looked to the side to only start running again. The 8 foot beady eyed creature was now racing behind him. Elliot was almost please to see the sight of his house. He jumped back through the kitchen window but was able to only get his head through it. The hound wrapped it's watery mouth around Elliot's leg. He let out a scream. He opened his eyes to slits to see his sister with her jaw dropping to the ground, to struck with shock to take any action. Then Elliot heard double gunshots and the hound's grip loosened and fogg filled Elliot's vision until darkness invaded it.
Elliot woke up on a hospital bed. He tried to sit up but pain shot through him. When he looked he saw his leg wrapped in a cast. After a few minutes later his mom came into the room and dived in for a hug. And in came Raina a few seconds after. Elliot came to know that his mother had taken the shot at the beast. He also found that he had lost his left foot. Elliot started tearing up on this news but his mother tried calming him by talking about replacements and modern technology. After telling him that the town was safe again and that so was he Elliot's mother went out to talk to the doctor. The docter came in and injected him after which Elliot layed back and fell asleep.
