(John's P.O.V)
It happened on a Saturday. The 24th.
I'd gotten the call around six in the evening.
"Hello?" I answered casually, not expecting the news I was about to recieve.
"Hello, are you John ********?" a stern male voice had asked.
"Yes?" I replied tentatively.
"Are you affiliated with a man by the name of Dillon ***********?"
"Yes- sorry, who is this?"
"Sir, I'm sorry to inform you... Your friend has passed away."
I paused. "I'm sorry, what was that?" I asked. I'd misheard. I must have misheard.
"He was in a car accident... I'm going to need you to identify the body."
The phone slipped out of my hand and fell to the floor.
No.
This wasn't happening. This couldn't be happening.
"Sir?" I heard the muffled voice on the other side of the phone and picked it back up.
"Um- yea, sorry." I apologized, flustered.
The man continued to talk, but I wasn't listening. I'd seen Dillon just yesterday. I'd asked him where he was going...
..."What are you doing tomorrow?" I ask during the stream.
"Don't worry about it."
"Whisper it in my ear." I persist, leaning over for him.
"Don't- don't worry about it." he repeats.
"You motherf*cker!" I exclaim as we laugh it off...
... His words kept replaying in my head...
"Don't worry about it... Don't worry about it."
... I'd never get to know where he was going.

(Jason's P.O.V)
I wasn't expecting John to call. I wasn't expecting him to be crying. And I definitely was not expecting the news he gave me.
"Aloha." I said, answering the phone.
"Uhm- Hi, Jay." John choked out, sniffling.
"Dude, are you ok? Have you been crying?"
"I'm not ok. He's gone."
"John, what's wrong? Tell me what happened."
"Jason... Dillon's dead. Will you come with me to identify the body?" he said, voice cracking.
I froze, then smiled. He was joking, right? "Jesus, John, you had me worried for a second. Why would you pull a prank like that?"
"This isn't a joke, Jay. Dillon died in a car accident. He's gone." John said, and I heard his tears spill, stifled sobs and silenced sniffles quickly turning full-on bawling.
My heart sank. "Oh." I whispered as he continued to cry. I couldn't take it. Hearing John cry- I hated it. I had to cheer him up.
"Hey... Don't cry," I consoled, trying to calm him down. "It's going to be ok, John. Everything is going to be ok."
"Th-thanks, Jay. That helps." he sniffled.
"Will you be ok tonight? Do you want me to come over?"
"Yeah, please," John said, grateful for the offer, "but-uh- can you do me a favor first?"
"Of course, what's that?"
"C-could you tell Sal? I'm a mess right now."
"Uhm- yea, I'll do that. See you in a bit?"
"Ok."
How funny, the amount of times that we'd said 'ok' in this conversation, when I'd never been further from ok.

(Sal's P.O.V)
I rubbed my eyes, yawning as the sound of my phone ringing pulled me out of sleep.
"Sup." I answered it, sitting up in bed and yawning again.
"Sal." I heard Jason's worried voice.
"That's me."
"Did I wake you up?"
"Uh, yea? What do you want?"
"Oh- uhm- sorry- I- " Jason stammered.
"Spit it out."
"Dillon's dead." he finally blurted.
"What?" I was still groggy, I'd probably just misunderstood.
"He- uhm- he died in a car accident. John wants us to go with him to identify the body. Could you- uhm- could you come over to John's place? I don't think he should be alone right now." Jason rambled, words filling the suddenly cold air. I stayed silent. "Sal?"
I didn't answer.
"Are you ok?" worry filled Jason's voice.
"I'm fine, Jay." I mumbled.
"You sure?"
"I said I'm fine."
"Ok, I'll see you in a while? Stay safe"
"Yea."
I sighed after Jason hung up, holding my head in my hands.
What happens now?

(3rd Person)
And they all spent the rest of the night together on Johns couch. Words were all a chorus of mumbled "I love you"s and whispered "it's ok"s. John crying on Jason's shoulder; Jason's warm arms holding him; and Sal hiding tear-streaked cheeks behind a hoodie, dead silent. They fell asleep like that, eventually, each of them hoping that in the morning this would all be nothing but a bad dream.
