Authors Note: First thing's first I'm really sorry it's take me so long to update this, but I had a lot going on and a lot of writers block and yeah. But I'm back and will hopefully be able to write and update more! Thank you all for reading and voting for my story even though I've been away, I really appreciate it. Here's chapter 12, enjoy!
It was 6am, and Luna was lying in bed, Olivia next to her, overthinking every thought possible. She was feeling pretty rubbish and everything was getting to her.
"Oh Dibbles, why am I such a mess?" She said to the sleeping cat. She was silently crying, she didn't want Taylor to hear her and get worried.
Everything she could be overthinking, she was overthinking. Her mom's death, she felt bad for not being there, for not saying goodbye to her properly, for not being able to visit her more often while she was in care. She was worried Taylor secretly hated her for bringing all of her problems into the house, she felt like a burden on her, and she felt bad for Taylor adopting her, she was scared Taylor only did it because she felt she had to. She was even considering taking her life so nobody would have to pretend to like her anymore, she would no longer be a burden, she would be with her family, and that's what she wanted more than anything.
She sat up and started twiddling her thumbs and fidgeting. All of this overthinking was making her feel sick. "Nope gotta run. Sorry Liv." She ran to the toilet and threw up, what seemed like everything she'd eaten all week.
She heard a quiet knock on the door, "Luna, are you okay in there?" Taylor had a worried tone as she tried to open the door.
Luna quickly stood up, cleaned up her face and wiped her tears. I can't let her know I've been crying, she'll think I'm stupid. She opened the door and let Taylor in as the toiled flushed. "I'm fine, just came over a bit funny, that's all." Her voice was croaky, she sounded like she'd just woken up, but that wasn't exactly the case.
Taylor leant in and put her arms around her, "Have you been drinking?" Luna shook her head. "You better not be lying to me young lady, I won't be mad if you have."
"I haven't been drinking Taylor, I promise." Luna buried her face into Taylor neck. "I just got myself worked up." She mumbled, almost inaudibly.
"What was that? I didn't hear." Taylor asked, pulling away from Luna so she could hear better.
"Nothing Tay, don't worry about it." Luna said, not wanting to be more of a burden on Taylor. The older girl looked at her confused, she saw her eyes all red and bloodshot, tear tracks down her face from earlier.
"C'mon, let's get you to bed." Taylor said, walking the young girl back to her room. She knows she'd been crying. The two girls sat on Luna's bed, "So what's bothering you?"
"Everything. But also, nothing. I'm overthinking everything and I got myself so worked up I made myself ill." Luna was cuddling Baxter tightly. "I've not been able to sleep because my mind is on overload, and I didn't know how to distract myself from these thoughts, so I let them overtake. I'm sorry if I woke you, I didn't want to be more of a burden." She sniffled as she started crying again.
Taylor took Luna's hand and squeezed it, "Aw honey, it's okay." Taylor couldn't believe Luna felt like she was a burden. "You are in no way a burden, I promise. You're here because I love you and I want you to be happy, I want you to tell me how you're feeling, what's going on, everything, so I can help. I want the best for you Luna, I really do." Taylor was getting a little tearful now.
Luna buried herself into her bear more, crying harder at what Taylor said. "Thank you Taylor, I can't thank you enough. I really am glad I'm here, because I really do need some help." Luna's eyes were stinging from all of the crying she'd been doing and not sleeping. She let out a big yawn, "I really think I need to get some sleep." She paused, "Will you... will you lay with me please?" Luna stuttered, not wanting to ask but also wanting someone there to keep her safe.
