Luna had trouble sleeping that night, she was constantly getting up to go to the bathroom, deliberately not using the bathroom in Taylor's room but going to the main bathroom in the apartment, trying not to wake the older girl every time she got up. Every time she left the room she would contemplate going into the main part of the house to see if there was any alcohol left, maybe if I drink more, I'll pass out and this feeling will go away she thought to herself, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. She went into the bathroom one last time, it was 6am and Luna finally felt aware of her surroundings, she was sober enough to know what was going on at that moment in time, unlike the rest of the night. She walked into the bathroom, locked the door and went straight over to her razor which was in the young girls wash bag. She picked it up and spun it around in her fingers, thinking of the things she could do with it right now. She could cut like normal, she could cut deep, she could scratch, she could cut across, she could cut up, but there was one thing stopping her. She heard a soft knock at the door.
"Luna, are you okay in there?" Taylor said quietly through the door. Luna dropped the razor, the edge of the blade landing on her foot, slicing it open just before her big toe.
"Shit." Luna muttered under her breath, not thinking Taylor would hear.
"Luna let me in." Taylor said, more urgency in her voice, "please, I want to help. I don't care what you've done, just let me help." She added, calmer now. Luna hopped over to the bathroom door and unlocked it, Taylor soon opened it as the young girl was hopping back to the bath to clean up her foot.
"It's not what you think. I was thinking about it but I dropped the razor when you knocked and this happened." Luna said, grabbing tissue to start cleaning up the blood.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't want you to get hurt." Taylor said, grabbing the first aid kit from the cabinet and helping with the wound. "Have you done anything tonight?" She asked, worried about the answer.
"Not yet. I was about to though." Luna said, shaking her head. "I've been tempted to drink some more too." The young girl hung her head in shame, "if I drink more I'd eventfully pass out and be able to get some sleep." A tear rolled down the young girls' cheek, "I can't sleep, every time I close my eyes she's there. I keep picturing how it happened in my mind, I hate it. I don't think I'm going to be able to cope with this." Luna was crying violently now, this is the first time she'd spoken about this soberly.
Taylor placed a hand on each of Luna's upper arms, holding them so that she was facing her, "I can't even begin to imagine how hard all of this is for you, but I'm going to be by your side through this all. I know you can do this, you're so strong, and you're going to be able to do this. I don't even care if you fall back into your bad habits, it sounds horrible but I'd understand. You're living through the worst news you could possibly get, and the fact that you haven't done anything stupid yet makes me so incredibly proud of you. This is one of the hardest things you'll ever do in your life, but I know you can make it through this." Taylor was staring into the young girls' eyes as she said all of this, hoping Luna didn't notice the tears that were forming in her eyes now.
"Taylor, I need to go home. I need to be close to her." Luna said as Taylor gave a reassuring nod. "Will you come with me?" Luna asked, taking a short pause, "I don't think I can do this alone and you're the only person I have left to ask. I'm sorry. It was stupid of me to ask, I'll go alone I'll be fine."
"You'll do no such thing. I was going to come with you if you asked me to or not. I can't let you do this alone. I've already told you I'm going to be by your side through all of this." Taylor pulled Luna in for a hug, Luna hid her face in the singers pyjama shirt as Taylor held her, crying more than she had before. "Let's go back to bed, try and get some sleep. I'll make arrangements to fly to California as soon as we wake up." Taylor said, both girls stood up, Luna still holding onto Taylor while walking back to Taylor's bedroom.
