Snakekit nuzzled closer to his mother Birchstar, he soon opened his eyes for the first time to see a blueish grey she-kit beside him, he also noticed a brown tom-kit, a white and grey she-kit and another she-kit that was dark grey, Snakekit could smell sickness around him, it was a strange sent he never smelt before, "Snakekit and Finchkit.." his mother said before a large grey and brown tom appeared in the den entrance, "Birchstar... this is your last life.." the tom said, "fear not... Thrushstorm.. as long as these kits are safe I'll always be with you..." Birchstar said before placing her head on her paws. Thrushstorm's eyes widen as he grabbed Snakekit and Finchkit by the scruff and placed them outside the den, "stay here young ones" his voice clearly had pain in it as he climb on top of this big ledge, Snakekit had never been outside before and soon noticed another kit outside, "hi I'm Breezekit!" The young tom said, "Hi I'm Snakekit and this is my sister Finchkit" Snakekit with a nod towards the small she-kit. "Cats of thunderclan! Gather here to hear my words!" Thrushstorm yowled, murmurs of "where is Birchstar" rose from the cats, "Birchstar is dead...." gasps and yowls broke out, as Thrushstorm waited for them to quiet down, "I will travel to the moon pool and gain my nine lives tonight" cheers rose from the clan, "Mousetail, could you please provide milk for my kits.." the tom asked politely to the queen, "their not old enough to eat fresh kill and your the only queen" the queen gave the tiny kits a thoughtful look, "I don't think I have enough milk for them" she said concerned. "I'll gather you some borage leafs everyday" Thrushstorm said desperately. "Okay I will give these kits milk" she smiled at the tiny kits, "kits this is Snakekit and Finchkit, Snakekit and Finchkit these are my kits Bluekit, Breezekit and Blizzardkit" Snakekit and Breezekit smiled at eachother, Snakekit noticed Bluekit was a blue she-kit like his sister, while Blizzardkit was white tom-kit with dark grey stripes, Breezekit was a grey tom-kit with brown paws and silver ears and muzzle. "We're gonna be best friends I just know it!" Breezekit said to Snakekit happily. Snakekit smiled and followed Mousetail to the clearing since the kits and queens couldn't be in the nursery with the illness.
