~Chapter 1~
I sat on my bed, the mattress heaving under my weight. The dull green comforter felt warm in contrast to the chilly drafts of my house. My dark brown hair fell in front of my face, and I quickly brushed it away. I had to look perfect for today. I had to look perfect for the festival.
I pulled myself from the comfort of my bed. I had to get dressed. I had to look perfect for the festival. My apple green eyes darted around the room. I walked over to my dresser, pulling out a drawer. I rummaged through it, finally finding what I was searching for. I dragged out a dress, and briskly put it on.
I stepped over to my mirror, which was standing in the corner of the room. It had a mahogany frame, and was elegantly built. I viewed myself in its reflective surface.
My dress was beautiful, and perfect for the festival. It was a seafoam green color, and reached to just above my knees. Two strings wrapped around my neck, holding the dress up. It had two off-the-shoulder sleeves. Towards the bottom of the dress, there were a few white raindrop-shaped patterns.
I took a deep breath, and shuffled outside. My mother was sitting at the table, munching on some granola. It was a measly breakfast for the day of the festival. My father was sitting across from her, his curly dark hair shimmering under the light.
"Hello," I greeted. My parents simultaneously looked over at me. A smile emerged at the corners of my mother's mouth.
"Oh, Cassidia, you look lovely," she complimented, her baby blue eyes sparkling. My father nodded his agreement.
I smiled, but said nothing. I walked over to the kitchen, and looked for something to eat. Something perfect for the day of the festival. I reached into our icebox and grabbed a yogurt. As soon as I sat down, I started eating, and let the raspberry flavor take over my tastebuds.
