Chapter Thirteen
The Search Continues
Day burst into the room and practically slammed the door behind him. He grumbled some words I could not understand as he came over to the bed. He sat down on the chair next to me and sigh. I opened an eye to see his head in his hands. He moved them out of the way and I quickly shut my eye again. He put his hand on my forehead and moved my bangs out of my eyes. He planted a light kiss on my forehead then stood up. He walked over to the other side of the bed and got in. He threw his arm around me and pulled me into him. "I just don't want to see you get hurt. I will help you find your father. Even if it kills me."
My eyes shot open. I wanted to scream no, but nothing came out. Next thing I knew my eyes were open again and sunlight was streaming through the window. "Morning, Sleeping Beauty." Day said to me. I let a smile grow on my face and then it quickly went away as I recalled last night. I sat up quickly as I let out a gasp. "Day, about last night-" "Sh, no it's okay. You had the right to walk away like that." He quickly interrupted. I began to stutter, "eh... uhm... no... I-I meant-" I took a deep breath. "I meant your conversation with-" "You heard that?" Day interrupted again. "Yeah, and I also-" I began, but he quickly interrupted again. "Were we speaking that loud? Were you ever asleep? How much did you-" "Day!" I shouted at him. He quickly shut his mouth and glared at me.
"Will you let me speak!? Oh, my gosh, Day!" I took a deep breath once again, "Look, I heard your entire conversation with your father." He let out a moan and I said "Hey, save it. Let me finish." I closed my eyes to think about where I just left off. "I heard everything you said and your father said. I heard either you or your father, I am assuming you, slam a chair into the table. I heard you angrily coming up the stairs and you sitting beside me. I heard what you told me when you threw your arms around me and I will NOT allow you to die if we ever do look for my father again!" I had said what needed to be said all in one breath. I let out a sigh and put my head down.
He walked over to me and sat down on the bed. He took my head in his hand and gently moved it to look at him. "Kaw, I love you. I will be willing to do anything for you." He told me in a soft voice. "No..." I said in an exhausted voice. "I- I can't let you do that." I put my head in my hands and tried my best not to cry. "I need you. I will not risk either of our lives over my arrogant father! If he is even alive anymore!" Daniel Crow should be around 52 by now. Who knew what could've happened to him.
"Kaw, I will never give up. I know you want to meet him. I think it's the reason you haven't been eating. You are worried about him and I. You need to find him, but you want me safe. I also know you are worried about your curse, so don't worry. We won't get married until you fulfill your life dream of meeting your father. Even though you are only sixteen." I looked at him. He was smiling at me. His smile caused me to smile. I put my head back down and tried to wipe the smile off my face. "Okay," I said. "Okay, what?" He asked me, just to be sure he knew exactly what I was talking about. "Okay. Let's go find my father." I looked at him and smiled as brightly as I could. He smiled back and kissed my lips gently. "Don't worry, Kaw. We will find him soon. I will be safe and everything will be okay. We packed up some provisions and walked outside. Day whistled as loudly as he could and out of the woods came Jonty and Faith as quickly as they could. Jonty leaped into my arms and Faith into Day's. "We're going to continue to find Kaw's father!" Jonty looked at me startled. "Are you serious?!" He barked out. "Yes, Jonty. I'm serious." Day replied with a smirk on his face. Jonty jumped back in surprise. "Whoa! Did you just understand me, nonintellectual human?" "Nonintellectual!?!?" Day shouted at him. I began to laugh. "Jonty, I taught Day some wolf over the little break we took. Surprise!" I told him as he stared at me like I was now dead to him. I laughed again and said "Don't worry about it. Now you won't be upset that he doesn't understand you!" Jonty grumbled some things under his breath and Day smirked. As usual, Faith was quiet and just smiled with bright eyes.
We began to walk through the woods. We were on our way to the closest town. We will find my father. I want to marry Day as soon as I can. What am I thinking!?! I'll die, but... I don't know if I will for sure. Throughout the entire trip, I just smiled and laughed as Day and Jonty carried on a conversation and Faith stared at Jonty while walking right by his side. That's when it occurred to me we had never said goodbye to Day's father, but I'm sure he'll be fine.
