thirty incredibly long and painful minutes later, Smitty and I were finally pulling back down the driveway. Smitty was driving. I was in the back seat, not wishing to be seen as silent tears of agony were finally allowed to fall from my eyes. “Smit, could you turn on the radio for me please?” I could see the tension in his shoulders as he read my tone, but he had the sense to do as I said without question.
We didn’t stop driving until we reached what I assumed had to be Smitty’s house in southern Virginia about two hours later. We would be staying there for two days, until our flight to russia left on saturday at seven thirty in the morning.
Two days later, Smitty and I were sitting on a plane to Russia when, you guessed it, we encountered a small little hitch three quarters of the way through the flight. By “a small little hitch” I mean ‘We got hijacked again.’ “Is it completley impossible for me to get on a flight that isn’t going to be hijacked?!” I bitched to Smitty as yet again we snuck towards the hijackers. then I caught their scent. They were werewolves. “Oh shit! we need a new plan, Smitty, they’re werewolves!” He gave me a look that plainly read: ‘You’ve got to be kidding me!’ before I smelled something else. Two other passengers on this plane were werewolves. Both were Alphas. All three of us met in an empty aisle for a plan to be drafted. “Guys, I’m a Navy SEAL, and Alpha of the Midnight Moon pack. I’ll lead this. You two need to flank me. Take out the two on the right and left, I can deal with the three in the center. Once they’ve been taken out, we make our way to the cockpit and rescue the pilots. Any questions? No, good. Let’s go.” We were off, each of us dispatching our targets and moving on to the cockpit. I quickly booted in the door, only to find that both pilots were alive and unharmed. I told them that the situation had been neutralized, and the flight continued as planned.
An hour and a half later, Smitty and I had cleared the customs officials under fake I.D’s, and took a cab to the Catherine Palace. The splendor of the palace was amazing, but it was nothing compared to the company of Special Forces men waiting on the front lawn.
“Dmitry.” I greeted him first, and we got the introductions over with. “You said there was something you needed to tell us, Carmen?” Said the Canadian by the name of Alex. Alex was 6’2, had blonde hair, blue eyes, tanned skin, and a marathon runner’s build. “I think it would be best if we discussed this inside, away from prying eyes.” We went into a secluded room on the top floor of the castle. “As you all presumably know, I asked that you all meet here today, and if my country were to hear of this, I will be killed. The reason I have asked for us to meet is fairly simple. United States intelligence has intercepted several North Korean missiles which are believed to have been intended for all of our countries, and each had enough explosives to replicate the effect of several atomic bombs. I felt it was my duty to warn all of you of this danger.” The looks on each of their faces ranged from shock to rage.
“We have to agree to work together to dismantle the North Korean Nuclear Arms programme. If we don’t, thousands of innocent people will die.” I finished. In the end we all agreed that it was well worth risking our lives to try and save the world. I put in phone calls to all of the American Special Ops guys, and they agreed that this had to be done.
The next phone calls I made were to inform the men from my SEAL company that they needed to get their asses on the next flight to St. Petersburg and meet me at Catherine Palace. I then took a moment to check in on Damon. He was frantic. He knew I had left the country, but he didn’t know where or why. He was worried that I could be hurt or killed. Rather than finding that endearing, I found it downright insulting. Had I not proven capable of taking care of myself? For chrissake, I’m an Alpha!
I snapped back into my own mind just in time to catch Dmitry asking me when my men would be here. “Within a day and a half. They’ve already booked tickets.” With that, we began planning. First things first, how the bloody hell were we supposed to get that many men to North Korea? Dmitry had the answer to that. His team had private C-130’s and fighter jets that we could get into the country undetected. Second question, how do we get past the missile compound guards? I thought for a minute before sharing my plans. “That’s an easy one, actually. Have any of you ever seen the show Burn notice?” a few of the men nodded. “Good, did any of you see the episode where Mike delibrately trips a compounds security to cause a big enough distraction to get inside?” A few more nods this time. “Good. That’s what we’re going to be doing, except on a larger scale using explosives.” We spent the next two hours going over details of the plan, and I showed them the map of North Korean Neuclear plants my idiot of an older brother had so helpfully kept among his stuff. We adjourned for the night after I gave everyone a copy of the map, the plans, and I gave Dmitry a list of the needed explosives and gear. In total, we were going to have a force of over five thousand Spec.Ops guys here by tomorrow. It was our hope to finish the mission and return home within the week.
Two days later, we were ready to leave for the mission. I checked in on Damon one last time before boarding the C-130. The Russian Government knew what we were doing, and after some smooth talking from Dmitry, they agreed not to inform our countries. We had about a six and a half hour flight to wait out, so Smitty and I broke out a game of Uno between us and two of Alex’s men. One round of Uno lasted about three and a half hours because we were all a little too competitive for our own good. By the time we got to North Korea, a heated arguement had broken out between the Canadians about who was better at Uno. It was so ridiculious that I couldn’t help laughing.
