Old friend

I sat there on my couch watching the notebook for the hundredth time in my life, how did someone even think of such a perfect story. Every detail made the movie seem so real and so easy. When in reality they probably sat for weeks, maybe months perfecting every detail marking the story almost perfect. It was these moments you wonder why love like that never happens in real life. Or maybe they did, I just was unlucky I guess. Not that I really want what happens in movies to happened to me, but I mean love in general. I've never been in a real relationship where I was in love, I don't know how real love feels, I just know that it must be nice. I mean I'm guessing it is if everyone is searching for someone to love it must be.
I personally don't think that much of love, I love my mom, I love my cat and I love my best friend, for me that's more than enough.

The movie ended and I am now hungry. I need to eat, I thought as I got up and headed to the kitchen. I open the fridge and there is nothing there for me to eat. "Ugh, typical" I whispered annoyed. Some how, every time I was this hungry, there was never food at home. I sat down at the kitchen table wondering what to eat and suddenly my phone starts ringing, it's probably mom I thought as I get up and walk back to the living room to pick my phone up.

To my surprise, I was wrong, it was Dylan. Why is he calling me?? I thought as I answered, "Hello?" the confusion behind my voice was obvious and he probably heard it too. "Hey Thea", he simply said not explaining why he had called. Me and Dylan never really spoke anymore, we used to be friends, now we just smile at each other in the halls. It was weird hearing his voice again. "I was wondering what you are doing this Friday" he continued, explaining the call. I still was as confused though. "Uhmm, I don't really have any plans..why?" I answered still wondering why he called me, it had been almost a year since we last spoke. "I was thinking of you and I what to catch up it's been a while right?" Was he thinking of me? What? "Yeah, It's been almost a year Dylan.." I answered confused "What made you think of me?" I asked searching for and proper explanation. "I was walking around the town the other day and I passed by that little café near the water fountain we always used to go to, and I thought of how you and I haven't talked in forever and I was hoping we could go there again" he explained. I almost forgot, I never go to that café anymore. It's weird realizing how much a persons life can change in only a year. Down to every last detail, something I would do every day last year, I wouldn't even think about now. "I would love to go there again, I haven't been there in ages and we definitely need to catch up, a lot has happened since last summer" I answered, I was quite excited, who knew, maybe we would become good friends again?

Two days passed and it was now Friday, Dylan and I decided that we would meet at that café that we always used to go to. I got out of bed and sat down at my make up table, I just put some concealer on and then did my brows and I was ready. I had my white jeans and a blue of shoulders top on, I put on my shoes and I was on my way out.

It was hot outside and I could feel a warm light wind that was refreshing and pleasant. Me and my mom live in a small apartment near the city so I never needed a car, I walk everywhere and I am okay with that. Today though, was a lazy day and I was not it the mood to walk, so I took my bike. In a couple of minutes, I was there.

I went in and started searching for Dylan and quickly noticed him sitting at a small table by the window. I made my way to him and he immediately realized it was me, he got up and gave me a hug. "Hey, I've missed you" he said as he let go allowing me to sit down. "I've missed you too, Dylan" I confessed and smiled at him. His hair was just as black and his eyes just as blue as I remembered them, he had a gray t-shirt and just some jeans on, it was simple but that's what suits him. "So how have you been?" I asked while making myself comfy on the hard wooden chair, this cafe always had the coziest blankets that I had forgotten about, I took one and placed it on my back before I leaned back, instantly my body got comfortable and I could focus on Dylan.
"Well" he started, I could tell that he was thinking about what to tell me first.
"I became captain of the soccer team" he continued. He had a big smile on his face, soccer was his dream, his passion. I remember how he always talked about how he and the team as done things and all these sports slang that I never used to understand but I always listened, I knew that he loved it more than anything. "Well I'm not surprised, you are the best one the team after all" His smile became wider and he started laughing shyly. " I'm not the best, I just put a lot of effort on to soccer that's all, they all are amazing, but let's not talk about them. How have you been?" He asked and, for the first time in a long time, I actually felt great. Since the summer started, I've been free from all the stress and drama that came with school.
"I am actually really good" I answered smiling.

We sat there talking for hours, he told me about how he and his girlfriend broke up a month ago and how he is going to Italy next month, we talked about everything really. There weren't any awkward silences, we had a great time and by the time we were done, we realized we had been sitting there for almost 3 hours. "This had been great" I said while I unlocked my bike "it really has, we need to hang out again sometime" he answered and gave me a big hug. "We do" I said pulling away from the hug and sat on my bike, I gave him a quick smile and then I was on my way home. It felt nice having a friend back, it's like going back in time and you feel like you haven't even been apart for that long when in reality you have.
