Lauren's POV:
I squirmed in my stool as Simon and his friend stared me and my girls down. The song had just finished and I could feel all of us holding in our breath.
Then I heard the fateful words leave Simon's lips, "Welcome to the show, girls."
We all hugged each other and squealed before running and tackle-hugging Simon.
I let my breath out and glanced over at Camila, who was grinning ear to ear. I winked at her, as if saying she was worried about nothing. I knew she'd be fine. I knew both Simon and his friend were highly impressed with her and I couldn't blame either one of her. Every time she opened her mouth to sing, she took my breath away and transported me far away from the struggles of the real world. I knew I was attached to her already and I finding try to fight it anymore. Trying to push away my affection for her was like trying to bring the tide back into the shore with a cheap bendy straw.
After our mini celebration and short interviews, we slipped back into our private hotel rooms. We all had to pack and board flights back home. We'd stay there for a little over a month until the show kicked back up again.
I sighed heavily to myself as I lazily threw my clothes into my suitcase. Maybe it's silly but I was already missing the girls and I hadn't even left yet. I'd grown fond of each and every one of them and all of their little quirks over the past few days and I knew leaving them would be difficult.
Tears were shed as we parted at the airport gates, but we promised we'd all stay in touch. I realized we would see each other soon but the days would go by faster if we all stayed within communication of one another.
The only redeeming fact is that Camila and I get to take the same flight back to Miami.
After some hassling and relentless begging, we got passengers to move around so that Camz and I were comfortably seated next to each other.
Camila was trying to say something about a movie night together while we were home, but I felt the plane lurch forward. Uh-oh.
My body wasn't used to flying yet and I couldn't focus on Camila's words for the life of me. I fixated on the pattern etched into the seat in front of me, hoping my motion sickness would pass.
Camilla's POV:
I was talking a mile a minute about all these things Lauren and I should do while in Miami. I couldn't stop myself. I couldn't help it though, I'd never had friends back home and I had all these nonsensical ideas about what best friends do when they're together.
I stopped in the middle of explaining how to make a smoffle (a s'more waffle) long enough to realize that Lauren's face was paler than usual and her eyes were glazed over.
I tapped her shoulder, "Lolo, you ok?"
She weakly nodded her head and held her stomach. I kindly offered her the barf bag that came equipped with our seats. She delicately held it in her lap.
That's when the turbulence impacted the relatively calm plane.
I looked over at Lauren and instinctively grabbed her hand. I squeezed her hand and encouraged her that it'd be ok.
She quickly withdrew her and from mine and leaned into the brown sack. I tried to soothingly patcher back but she shook me off and fled into the flight bathroom.
This was going to be a long flight.
