Chapter 2 The bunker

Chapter 2

 "You did good with those rabbits." Kirt told Neo as they walked on.

"Thanks." Neo replied.

Kirt sighed and looked forward. There are times when he misses the Night Neo. Day Neo doesn't do a whole lot. He's always just one word answers. It can be a bit dull. But then there's the times when Kirt misses the Day Neo.

They walked along in silence. After about half an hour, Kirt turned his head and saw a bunker on the side of the rode.

"Hey, check it out." Kirt replied.

Neo stopped and looked to see the building.

"Strange." He replied.

"Yeah, lets go check it out!" Kirt started to jog to the bunker.

Neo silently followed Kirt as he excitedly ran to the bunker. Kirt walked into the door way and looked around.

"Whoa!" He announced.

Inside, the ground was littered with all sorts of scrap. There were three vehicles parked on one side. Kirt ran to them.

"What are these?" He asked.

"I read some books about these and look to be cars." Neo replied as he walked up to Kirt.

"Smart ass." Kirt replied.

"I read books!" Neo said in defence, "What's so smart about it?"

Kirt ignored Neo's question and climbed into one of the jeeps. He started fiddling with some levers and buttons.

"How is this suppose to work?" Kirt asked.

"I don't know." Neo replied as he walked up to the jeep.

He started to examine the jeep. Kirt sat back to give him room. Neo found some strange thing stuck into the side of the wheel. He turned it and heard the jeep attempt to start.

"Whoa! How'd you do that?" Kirt asked.

"Just., turn this thing." Neo answered as he turned it again.

This time, he jeep started up.

"Sweet!" Kirt announced.

Neo climbed to the seat next to Kirt and sat down. Kirt moved a lever next to the wheel. He moved it up and down.

"Put it on D." Neo replied.

Kirt made it so that it was on the D. He then looked at the pedals on the floor. He stepped on one and it jerked forward.

"Okay, so that's go." He replied.

He stepped on the other one and nothing happened. He then grabbed the wheel and turned it side to side. He could see the tires turn with the wheel.

"And that's how you steer." He announced.

Kirt then put full force onto the gas pedal and the car zoomed forward. In less than a second, he ran right into a wall. Neither Kirt nor Neo were hurt. Smoke came up from the front.

"Whoa! That was awesome!" Kirt replied.

"Great! Now you broke it!" Neo replied.

"But it was still fun!" Kirt added.

Neo jumped out and got into another jeep. Kirt jumped into the passenger seat next to him.

"Lets see if you're any better." Kirt replied.

Neo pushed on the gas pedal and as the car jerked forward, he pushed the other pedal. The jeep jerked to a stop.

"So that's stop Kirt." Neo told Kirt.

"Shut up." Kirt replied.

"Maybe you should learn some things." Neo added.

Kirt folded his arms and turned away in a pout. Neo smirked and began to drive around. He ran into a few things, but he did a lot better than Kirt. Kirt leaned against the door of the jeep.

"You really are a smart ass if you can drive this good." He told Neo.

"It's not smart ass, it's skills." Neo replied.

"It is in my book." Kirt added.

Neo rolled his eyes and parked the car. "Lets look through all of this and get going."

Kirt nodded and jumped out of the jeep with Neo. They started looking through all of the many different scraps on the floor and looked for what was of good use and value. After about half an hour, they met back at the entrance.

"Find anything?" Kirt asked.

"Not much." Neo answered. "Just a few sharp things and some medic packs. You?"

"Same here." Kirt added. "Lets get out of here."

Neo nodded and they both jumped into a jeep. Neo started to drive the jeep out of the bunker and onto the path.

"Lets hope you don't hit anyone." Kirt warned.

"Oh I'll be fine." Neo replied. "Let's just hope we don't run into any guards."

"Let's hope." Kirt agreed.
