"What are your insights on animals rights?"
Three pairs of eyes snapped to the small blonde that sat on the side of the bench, she held a book in her small hands, elbows on the surface of the table and was scanning the text, while she heard the blabbers from other people in the half coffee shop, half bakery they succumbed to when the rain hit.
She never understood why they always visited this bakery in particular, it sold great quality food, alright. But she never really got the point of sitting on a table for an hour or two. Maybe less, and maybe more.
"Esa?" She tore her gaze from the captivating words that sucked up her entire attention, until she was interrupted by a girl, who's midnight curls that cascaded own her back in spirals; she had it up in a high ponytail with only her fringe being slightly out of place. Her face was oval-like, with large, luminous grey eyes that looked like a storm cloud through thick lashes. "What are you on about?"
"Well," the blonde sighed and closed the book she was reading with her finger trapped between the pages she was on, to not lose her place. "there is a thing as human rights, why can't there be animal rights? Plant rights would suffice but when you think about it, they don't really do much but suck up sunlight like how a vampire would suck up blood."
The same three pairs of eyes stared back at her with confusion, a mixture of surprise and amusement hidden deep within their expressions. She sighed at their blank expressions and carried on. "So... what are your thoughts on it, then?"
She pushed the thick spectacles that sat low on the bridge of her tiny nose; higher up. Tessa shook her head when she didn't get a reply and opened the book she was reading before she carried on from where she paused. Stuck in the world of Angels and Demons, she held the book closer to her eyes; as if it might run away if she didn't complete reading the next page and so on.
"Erm... well, I'd never really thought anyone would ask me about that," one of the staring trio started off, Tessa broke off from her reading once more and looked at the speaker. It was one of the two boys that hanged out with Tessa and the dark haired girl. Once she looked at him, she noted that the first thing that always caught her attention were his eyes.
They were a dark, odd shade of warm brown, the shade of his eyes blended with the shadiness of his hair, that was swept to the side at the top of his head, while the sides have been cut close to his scalp, it looked like he had a buzz cut for both sides of his head, rather than a full one; but it suited him. "And?" Tessa prodded and poked his arm from across the circular table.
"I supposed that animals do have rights, like we do, but to a lesser--is that even an actual word?-- extent that we do, maybe because they're brainless or something," Harper replied, he rubbed the back of his neck slowly before he nodded.
"Animals do have brains, if they didn't, they wouldn't exactly be able to live, now would they?" She countered and smirked when he glowered at her. She giggled at his expression and looked at one of her friends that sat around the small, round table. The same grey eyes looked back into her blue ones.
They were pale, like washed out blue mixed with a minimum amount of green; flecks of the leaf like colour stuck to the edges of her pupil. Her iris itself looked like a battlefield of colours. A war between blue and purple, a never ending war that took up her eyes, either they looked like prettiest of purple, or the brightest of blue. A battle of colours. A symmetry between the two colours that fascinated everyone that gazed into her eyes.
"Would they?" She repeated with a minor smirk playing on her lips and her eyes widening slightly. It was always a habit of her to widen her eyes slightly when addressing a question. She found out that it made people a tad bit uncomfortable and made lying harder for them, since her vision would be enhanced slightly, and she would observe them closely.
