Emma's pov

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

"Happy 10th Birthday Emma, blow out your candles!"

So that's exactly what I did. After everyone ate cake I opened up my gifts. Here I was at the last gift, the one

I had waited forever to open.

The one I had tried to find over and over again.

Austin's present.

It was neatly rapped in shiny blue paper with a nice line green bow on top.

I swiftly opened it and pulled out a rectangular black box.

I opened it to find a silver necklace with a short chain and a small heart shaped locket.

"Do you like it Emma?"

"Like it, austin I love it. Now come over here and help me put it on!"

Austin made his way over to me and grabbed the ends of the necklace. He easily clasped it around my neck as I held my hair up. I turned around and looked in the mirror at the perfect necklace. It looked perfect it fit perfect it practically was perfect. I opened it up and it had a picture of me and austin when we first met one one side and on the other side it had a picture of us just yesterday at the zoo. I closed it back and looked at it. It had my favorite phrase inscribed on it 'Forever and Always'. But on the back it said 'be mine' which confused me because

A) it didn't make since

and

B) austin and I had the perfect best friend relationship so why would I need to 'be mine' or his or whatever it ment?

"Emma?"

"Yeah austin?"

"Can I talk to you in private please?"

"Sure"

Austin grabbed my arm and led me outside to our treehouse. It was a big treehouse because it was really two combined treehouses. We each had one in our back yard when we became friends. Since there used to be a fence, we had to get down from ours then go through the gate door then up the other treehouse, so we just added a bridge and this whole other part I it. The fence was taken down when we were building the bridge and Austin fell and almost hit his head on the fence. Anyways, it was really tall, one side had a ladder, one had steps, another had a rope/ pole and the last part had a pully system. It was very well decorated and was almost like a house.

"Take a seat."

"Austin what is this about?"

"I wanna be more than friends" he's blurted

"W-what?"

"Emma we have known each other since we were five and all we have ever been is friends. People constantly wonder if we are together because we are so close and recently I have been attracted to you in a different way than before and I want to be more than friends."

I was left speechless in shock of what he had just poured out. It was all at once and really quick but I didn't know what to do. What about our friendship? what if things end badly? what if everything we had was ruined? I didn't know what to think. So I sat speechless on the couch in our treehouse staring blankly at the ground.

"Look Emma, I have thought this over and over again because I didn't want to lose what we already had but I can't deny my feelings for you and I can't pretend that they aren't there either. So will you please be my girlfriend Emma please?"

"Yes, of course I will austin!!!" I almost shouted.

Out of no where Austin's excitement seemed to overwhelm him because next thing I new he grabbed my face and pulled me into him. He met me half way with his lips puckered out.
