Bea's Pov
My name is Beatrice Nightingale. Everyone calls me Bea(bee). Call me by my full name and prepare for pain. I am 22. I have black short hair and grayish blue eyes.
I have just been recruited to the 885 police squad. I am the second youngest officer and one of the only female officers. After my first day I was pretty well acquainted with all of them.
I was on the train back from training with two elderly women. All of a sudden one of women pulls out a gun. Of course I didn't have my equipment because it was just a medical training. The woman shoots the other woman and she grips her shoulder. Then she turns and shoots my good arm. I grip it and look at her. Then the other woman grabs her purse and pulls out a FUCKING PISTOL AND SHOOTS THE SHOOTS HER IN THE HEAD. I sit there shocked for a moment then looked at the woman.
"I have a carrying permit in here. Don't worry. I'm a retired officer," she says. I chuckle.
"Well I am a current officer," I replied as the train stopped. I help her out of the train and onto a bench before dragging the other woman out. I lay her on the ground. I walk up to the other woman and use the spare cloth I had in my bag to help put pressure on the wound. I look back at her. "My apartment is next door I have to grab my equipment but I will be right back," I said. She nodded holding the cloth on her shoulder. I ran to my apartment and put on my uniform grabbing everything. I quickly tore an old t-shirt and tied the fabric on my arm. I ran back to the woman and she sat there smiling at me. Man she was a trooper. I grabbed my radio. "This is Officer Bea. There has been a shooting at the train station. Two injured. The shooter is dead." I said calmly into my radio. "One of the injured is an elderly woman."
"Copy that Bea," a voice said. It was Luke. He was one of the officers in my squad. "I am on my way. Brian, Brock, and Craig's ambulance is closest so they should be their in a minute," he answered.
"I see their lights," I said. I checked on the woman. She was doing pretty well. She even offered me some candy.
"Hey BeA where are you?!" I heard someone yell. It was Brian. He never said my name right.
"Over here by the benches!" I yelled back. Brian, Craig and Brock all ran up to us. Brock went to the older woman with Craig and Brian came over to me.
"Where is the second injured person?" He asked. I lifted up my good arm. The blood had soaked through the cloth. "Holy shit BeA you could have said it was you that was shot! You are awfully calm," he said. I shrugged.
"I've had worse happen," I replied lifting up my metal hand. He chuckled. "It's only a little bit in there. It's not hitting any bones either. I checked it while I was getting my equipment," I explained. He nodded. I heard a police car pull up and Luke ran back to where we were. She saw the old woman on the ground and looked at me.
"You are telling me. That old woman was the shooter?!" He said. I nodded. He looked at the other woman. "Oh my god Mrs. Hughes?!" He said. She nodded.
"You know her?" I asked. He nodded.
"She retired the year after I was hired!" He said. I chuckled.
"That explains her accuracy and gun permit," I said. He looked at me.
"Wait. She shot the shooter?" He asked.
"Yeah. The training I went to today said to leave our equipment at home. So I didn't have my gun. And she did. After I got shot she shot the woman," I explained. He nodded writing it down.
"Okay time to get you two to the hospital," Brian said. I nodded and walked to the ambulance beside Mrs. Hughes. We both sat down on the gurney. She offered me some candy again which I eagerly excepted. She smiled.
"How many women are on the squad now?" She asked.
"Just me and a girl a year older than me," I replied. She nodded.
"They offered me the chief position. But I had to retire. So a man took over but from what I have read he was killed. So now there is a new chief," she said. I nodded.
"Officer Fong," I replied. She smiled.
"He interned there the year I left. He was such a sweet heart. Always getting me hot donut when he getting food for the others," she said. I smiled. I'll have to mention this later. "How is oh what was his name...Ryan?" She asked. I thought for a minute. "He never told anyone his last name. Went by a nickname I think..."
"Oh ohm! He's good. Makes a lot of jokes," I said. She smiled.
"I imagine they will come to the hospital to check on you," she said. I chuckled.
"Maybe Mari or Luke," I said. Those two were my best friends on the squad. Marissa was the girl who was a year older than me. We went to the same police academy. We were friends then too.
"Has Luke made any advances on that boy Johnathan?" She asked. I laughed.
"No not yet. Del is as oblivious as ever. Especially with Officer Fong around," I explained. She giggled. "If you don't mind me asking why are you so calm about all of this. You know being shot and everything," I asked.
"Well I've had worse happen," she answered rolling up her pant leg revealing a prosthetic leg. It wasn't technical like mine. Just a standard. I smiled at here.
"Same here," I said lifting up my metal arm. "Biking accident. All metal from the shoulder down," I explained. She nodded. I heard Brock chuckle from the front seat. "What?" I asked.
"Sorry it's just. I've never had two people in the back of an ambulance having a casual conversation before," he said. I looked at Mrs. Hughes and we laughed.
