Oh My Girl's Arin as Park Jiho
"Oh, it's Wink-Boy again."
Park Jiho grumbled and tilted her head looking at the rather old ad in the subway station she just had entered. The finale of Mnet's survival show, Produce 101, was almost a month ago, yet no one had taken down this advertisement. Did everyone love walking past Nation's most famous wink?
Jiho furrowed her eyebrows and turned away from the ad, that normally made teenage girls squeal up in excitement due to the boys cute features.
Jiho was a bit different than normal teenage girls when the topic was Park Jihoon. Simple answer: he was her older brother and seeing him on posters and in advertisements were already too much for the seventeen year old highschool student.
This wasn't even the first advertisement of Jihoon, Jiho had seen ever since the finale of Produce 101 had ended with Jihoon making it in the finale eleven.
Jiho loved her brother to bits. But there was a thing she couldn't help but feel when she heard his name. She felt inferior to him. Seeing him winning a really hard survival show and living his dream was hard for the young girl to see. But she couldn't help that she wasn't as talented as Jihoon.
Jiho walked down the escalator, trying to get rid of the image of her brother in her head before looking at her wristwatch. "Snap." She cussed and rolled her eyes. "I am going to be late." The petite girl mumbled and stepped into the next subway that was entering the station.
Jiho was appointed to meet Jihoon at his company as she hadn't seen him since the finale took place and he missed her, like the good older brother he was. He had suggested they meet this particular weekend, as it was just a practice day for the members of Wanna One. With much debate with herself, she decided that she might as well go visit. A small break from her tough school studies was definitely necessary.
Jiho looked around the subway trying to find an empty seat but ended up standing as there was no vacancy left. She sighed and looked at her feet, feeling insecure once again.
Park Jiho wasn't as confident and open-minded as her now-famous brother. Jiho was quiet and reserved.
Looking at her reflexion in the window she sighed, pushing her bangs aside and seeing the slight resemblance to her idol brother. If people would just look at Jiho without knowing of her family, they would sometimes even say 'Wow, you look like 101's Wink Boy!' She guessed it couldn't be helped. No matter the circumstance, it just comes full circle, she will somehow always be in this curse relating her to her brother one way or another.
Jiho had a petite, small face with almond-shaped dark brown eyes and long lashes. Her forehead was covered by bangs that made her look a little bit younger but matched her face and overall appearance a lot. Her thin lips were usually up in a frown. Her smile was rare.
In school she never smiled, especially since she was in an all-girl's school where 87% of her classmates were in love with the boys from Produce 101, especially her brother caught the attention of the girls very quickly.
With some stops passing and a few passengers zooming in and out, Jiho finally found a seat in the subway and sat down, checking her phone. She sighed seeing that Jihoon had tried to call her four times already. She rolled her eyes and quickly typed a message that she was on the subway and soon would be at YMC Entertainment.
It would be the first time she would actually visit Jihoon at his workplace. She had been at Maroo Entertainment a few times, dropping off food for her brother or just went to visit him when he had a hard time or was just missing family. And even if Jiho would feel guilty visiting him, with all the secret thoughts she had in mind, she would still go and visit him. They will always have that sibling bond.
When they were younger, they were inseparable, sharing their toys and wishes with each other. And Jihoon would always tell Jiho about his worries and fears, especially when the both of them decided to try out their luck at auditions.
The Park siblings were talented musicians, Jihoon a fantastic singer and Jiho had a talent for playing guitar and singing soft vocals. Jihoon would always love listening to his sister sing, as she usually sang when she was stressed or upset. Their mother used to sing for them when the siblings were small and Jiho copied that trait and would always sing.
But when Jihoon got accepted by Maroo Entertainment and Jiho got declined she stopped singing in front of people and started to sing just for herself. Sad melodies, that were portraying her inner conflict. In her mind, she had always thought her and Jihoon would be together, even entering the same companies together. She believed that they were at the same level of skill and would be accepted. However, the many auditions they had gone to, and this one audition in particular, proved her wrong.
Maybe, she was simply never good enough to become a performer like Jihoon.
She loved her brother a lot, but knowing that he was doing something she was dreaming for so long was hurting her. So much had changed within the months Jihoon began training to become an idol, especially with her parents being prone to favour the family's son. They would never admit it, but she had noticed in the way they would call him every night after his practices, or whenever their mom would cook an excessive amount of food for him to eat, or the times they would praise their son for his hard work. That favoritism only increased as he entered the popular survival show, while Jiho's own self-esteem decreased with it.
Jiho was roughly ripped from her thoughts when her stop was being announced. She quickly scrambled to her feet, almost tripping in the process and rushing to the subways doors.
As soon as Jiho was outside of the train she took a deep breath and wrote down the location to YMC Entertainment's headquarters in her phone. Following the GPS in her hand, she walked along the busy roads, tiptoeing to see further in the distance in case to see the very building Jihoon had explained to her on the phone last night.
Jiho licked her lips and looked at her phone suddenly realising something. "Snap!" She yelled out and held her hands in front of her mouth, like the klutz she was. She realised way too late that she walked in the complete opposite direction. She quickly rolled her eyes and pouted at her own foolishness before walking back the way she came from.
Jihoon was probably wondering where she was due to her lateness. She was to meet Jihoon in twenty minutes and ten of those twenty minutes were already spent with walking in the wrong direction.
How typical of the clumsy Park Jiho.
Jiho sighed and started running in the other way, skipping past busy people who gave her judgemental looks which she simply ignored.
Half the way behind her she stopped walking to rest her arms on her knees and trying to catch her breath. She was always way too much in thoughts and realised to late that things went wrong. She was like that in class as well... so much that her grades were slipping. She took one last deep breath and continued walking to the entertainment company.Soon she found the YMC Building and wiped the dust of her clothes, fixed her hair before walking into the lobby, a fake and cheery smile on her face before walking up to the woman behind the counter.
"Hello, I am Park Jiho. Park Jihoon said I was coming, right?" She asked in her most friendly tone with the tilt of her head. Finally, she made it, and finally, she will see the brother who gave her the most conflicting of feelings.
Park Jihoon, let's not make this longer than it has to.
