School. Though, I like to call it hell. I guess I should describe my school. Well, I guess I can start by saying it's very small. Mostly all the students here are rednecks, sometimes they even play country music from their phones...gross. The hallways are always full of couples throwing themselves on top of each other. You can't even get to your locker without someone shoving you out the way.
As our bus pulled up to the school, the bus driver opened up the doors. I instantly leaped up, and jumped off the bus, rushing towards the door. I walked down the hallway, then stood in the doorway of the gym. A girl with short blonde hair walked up to me, and turned her back to me.I put my pointer finger and my middle finger behind her backpack handle, and grabbed on. I always did this with her, it was a habit.
"Emily, wait for Blake." Blake was my ex boyfriend. The thing is, I thought I was over him. I mean, I should just see him as a best friend, but I still get butterflies when I see him. It doesn't feel like a crush, yet I act like it is. "We can pretend to be waiting for Maxie."
We stood there for a few more seconds, then a boy shorter than us walked by. He had shoulder length dirty blonde hair, with emo styled bangs. I pushed Emily ahead, and we walked behind him. I reached forward, and managed to pull his ear bud out.
"What the fu-" He instantly turned around, then realized it was me and Emily. "Oh..hey." He got a bit awkward.
---FLASHBACK---
Our relationship had started on March 15th, 2013. We hadn't known each other that long, but I guess we thought it was right...or..I did. We were in the library, our usual meeting spot, and I was searching for a book. What I didn't know was my ex best friend, Valerie, had been talking to him about it. He came up behind me, and tapped my shoulder lightly. I turned around, and hugged my book.
"Alex," He gently took the book from my hands, and took them into his. "I know that we've only known each other for a few months but...will you be my girlfriend?"
I remember all I did was nod my head and smile. I wasn't comfortable around him. I felt like I had to act like this quiet, innocent girl. Valerie had been hiding in the bookshelves, hiding. When I nodded my head she burst out of nowhere, and hugged me, ruining our moment.
Then, April 5th came along. All my friends thought I was getting a book, but really i was sitting in the back corner crying. My mom and dad had an argument earlier, and my mom left us. The first to come back was Valerie, but she didn't stay. She took one look at me, then went back to our table we usually sat at. Then came Blake, I knew Valerie had informed him.
"You alright?" He sat down beside me, and put his arm around me.
I explained the whole story to him. My dad throwing the lamp at her, practically flipping a whole table. My mom throwing her wedding ring at him, and slamming the door. He pulled me closer to him, and kissed my cheek softly. We talked about it for a while, then he stood up, and helped me up. He put his arm around my waist, and I awkwardly put my arms around his. It was always awkward like this, since he was shorter than me.
"I love you, Alex. Everything about you is perfect...your hair..eyes...especially your smile." I felt myself smile, and his goofy smile appeared as well. He slowly removed his hands, and took mine into his. He got onto his toes, and I leaned down slightly. Our faces were inches apart, I could practically feel his lips. "Kiss me." He whispered, and our lips met. It felt like just the two of us, but I knew it wasn't. Valerie was watching, as usual.
April 26th. I was sitting on the hill with Emily at a school festival. We were watching Valerie talk to Blake and his friends. Suddenly, she stormed away, and quickly headed towards us.
