I woke up to the sound of snoring. I glanced around my pitch black room. Terrible thoughts entered my mind, and I felt my legs shake, then my whole body. Was there a monster under my bed? No..No that’s the stupidest thought ever. Maybe my dad is snoring or something. Wait, that’s impossible my dad died years ago. Maybe I’m dreaming,

I heard about this thing, lucid dreaming. I never quite fully understood it, but I guess you think you’re awake, but you’re sleeping. Or vice versa. I actually did a bit of research, and a website said to look at a clock, look away, then look back. If the time has changed a lot, you’re dreaming. I looked over at my digital clock, 5:30 am it read. I looked away, then looked back to see it hadn’t changed. I grew even more worried, and I turned on my lamp. I silently got up, and walked into the bathroom connected to my room. I flicked on the dimmer lights, and flinched as I saw myself in the mirror.

I had fallen asleep in my skinny jeans and still had my makeup on. ‘I look like the next member of Black Veil Brides.’ I thought to myself as I pulled my long dark red hair back into a ponytail, and pinned my bangs to the side. I washed my face, and got the makeup off. I reached for my toothbrush, but the shaving razor caught my hand and a small cut formed. My loud squeak echoed in the quiet bathroom, and the snoring stopped.

“Who’s there?” I heard a tired voice come from my hand.

I let out another squeak, and jumped back slightly. “W- Who are you?” I brought my hand closer to me.

“I’m Michael. Why is your voice coming from my ring?” He sounded uncertain when he introduced himself.

“Why is yours coming from mine?” I emphasized the word yours. “And I’m Alexandria.” I took off my ring, and set it on the counter.

“I just asked you that, how would I know?” Mitchell let out a soft yawn, and I heard him stretching.

“Well…can you see me?” Alexandria started to panic. She didn’t know who he was, what if he was some old guy?

“No,” Mitchell responded quietly. “I can only hear you.”

I sighed quietly, though it echoed slightly in my bathroom. I had gone back to my room, and we talked till 6:00 am. He told me the story, the one my mother was supposed to tell  me. Basically, on your fifteenth birthday you get a special ring, and you can hear the person you're supposed to be with. I didn't really believe it, but then I remembered when my sister still lived here I always heard her talking to 'herself; He continued to tell me that some people never meet the voice on the other side. Would I ever meet him? I barely even knew him..

“I have to get ready for school, I think we should leave our rings at home.”  I got off my bed, and opened my closet.

“Good idea.” I heard him getting up as well. “I’m putting mine in a drawer.” I heard him open one.

“Alright, I’ll put mine in my jewelry box.”  I picked up the ring after we said our goodbyes, and I put it in my jewelry box.

I looked around in my closet; I never knew what to wear. I picked out a Hollywood Undead shirt, and electric blue skinny jeans, with a black smoky design along the sides. I sat down on my bed, and put on my chained combat boots. I stopped when I heard my mom’s boyfriend yelling at her. This was an everyday thing. I walked back into my bathroom, and did my makeup, hair, then brushed my teeth. I stared at myself in the mirror for a while, and decided to wear a dark grey beanie. My phone made a noise, and I checked it to see it was my ex boyfriend, Jason.

J: Good Morning A! cx

I never understood why he keeps trying to talk to me. I usually ignore him, but I felt like being nice to day.

 You: Morning J.

I fixed my makeup, put on my large nerd glasses, and put in my snake bites. I walked out to my bedroom, and looked into my mirror.

I never liked how I looked. I definitely wasn’t skinny, but I wasn’t fat. My hair went down below my chest, and it was naturally curly, but I straighten it all the time. I wear extensions to make my longer layers fall to my stomach. It used to be a dark brown, but I dyed it red a few weeks ago. My mother told my my grey eyes used to sparkle, but now they just look dull. My skin was pale, very pale. I never tan, it’s impossible. People always tell me I’m one of those girls who are beautiful, but I just don’t realize it. Those people are funny.

I was about to leave my room, when I remembered my bracelets, seven on each arm. I slipped them on, and then ran downstairs. I slipped on my Pikachu sweatshirt, and grabbed the coffee that my mother had prepared for me. I ran out the door, and waited for the bus.
