Eclipse ran until he could no longer feel his paws. He was pretty sure that those other wolves had stopped chasing him a while ago but he'd needed to be certain. He also didn't want to fly because they would find it easier to accuse him of being a demon. Eclipse slowed to a halt and looked around him to check that there was nobody around before he slumped to the ground, panting heavily. Sighing, he cast around for a good place to sleep where no one would be able to find him. He found a small hole in the ground and curled himself up in it, finally feeling safer. With that peaceful feeling lingering, he fell to sleep.
Eclipse woke up the next morning, momentarily panicking until he remembered where he was: the hole. Climbing out, he stretched and took a proper look at his surroundings, something he hadn't been able to do in the low light of the evening. Without realizing it, he had ran down into a small valley with a little lake and lots of trees. 'I could get used to this,' he thought.
All of a sudden he heard a rustling sound. He jumped into a ready position, preparing to be attack. In a bush not to far away, a young wolf pup crawled out; whining. Eclipse walked over to it slowly, making sure its mother wasn't waiting to pounce.
"Who are you?" He asked, his voice slightly gruff from the lack of sleep he'd got in the last week.
"I-I'm Bandit," the wolf pup whispered.
"Where's your family," Eclipse asked suspiciously.
"I... don't know," Bandit said miserably, "one moment I was sleeping next to my mum, the next I was under that bush."Eclipse sighed. He couldn't really take the pup with him but he also couldn't leave him here to fend for himself. Growling to himself he turned back to look at Bandit, who was looking up at him hopefully.
"Fine. You can come with me..." He relented, "but just until we find a pack that will look after you, okay?"
"Yes! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" The juvenile wolf exclaimed, snuggling into Eclipse's leg.
"Let's get going then," Eclipse spoke, shaking the pup off him and beginning to walk.
"Ok," Bandit said, following him down further into the valley.
