Cameron could barely see his reflection as he looked in a mirror for the first time in months. There was grime and dirt covering the surface as well as his face, and he wanted to break down at the sight of it.He wasn't supposed to be here.... He was supposed to be taken in the Rapture... Every single wipe out, he waited, waited for it to take him up to heaven, waited for God to finally choose him, but it never happened.
Now he was in an abandoned gas station... Well abandoned is redundant since everything is abandoned... And stared at himself in the mirror wondering what the hell he had done wrong.
He never sinned, he was gay, but his parents told him that was okay, he never had sex, he always went to church... He was the perfect son... Yet he was down on Earth being chased by adrenaline fueled abandoned teenagers like him who are hungry for blood.
There was a rustle outside, and Cameron jumped in fear, knowing it was The Lonely Hearts Club. They'd been looking for him a while now, thinking he was a threat, a rat specifically, why? He didn't know... He was just a Christian boy trapped in anarchy.
Cameron locked the bathroom door, and stood in the furthest corner from the window on the opposite side... He needed to be silent... Or he was screwed.
He heard bickering as the bell to the front door rang, and he strained his ears to hear what they were saying. He could hear chunks, and he could tell the two voices were a boy and a girl, maybe a brother and sister from the way they were arguing.
"I'm sorry... Bathroom!" The girl exclaimed, and Cameron started shaking, they were gonna find him.
"Just... Okay?" The boy said back, and Cameron started to freak out, but he had to stay silent.
He heard the thumping of feet make their way toward the bathroom door, and jiggle the knob. Cameron held his breathe and crossed his fingers that she wouldn't kick open the door. Tears rolled down his cheeks as the girl tried breaking in the door.
"It's locked." She said, and Cameron sighed silently in relief, but when he heard a gun shot he was sure he'd peed himself a little, as suddenly the door knob fell to the dirty bathroom floor.
Cameron knew there was no getting away this time, so he covered his head and waited for another gunshot into his skull.
"I need to pee so- holy shit." The girl said as she walked in, looking at Cameron with a confused expression.
"Please just kill me quick." He said, his voice squeaky from pure fear.
When a bullet didn't go through his head, he looked up at the girl, who looked just as shocked as he felt.
"Dalton... There's someone in here." She said, and a few seconds later Cameron saw an intimidating boy pointing a gun at his head.
"Please, just make it quick." Cameron begged, and suddenly the boy put his gun down.
"He's not a threat, piss and then lets go." The boy, Dalton, said, walking away from the bathroom... Leaving Cameron alone with this girl.
"You look terrified... I'm Crystal by the way." The girl held out a hand for Cameron to take, and he did, she then pulled him up and smiled at him.
"C-Cameron." He said with a small smile that cracked his chapped lips.
