After I got ready for the day, I looked out the window; to see a rare sight. SUN?! The day was perfect to just go out and enjoy nature. I sound so corny. I decided to go to the park and read my book. It was one of the warmest days I’ve had living in England. When I arrived at the park I looked at the bench, in which I remember Harry and I met. The memory made me smile, the first person outside my family to have introduced themselves to me in England.

I walked over and sat of the bench trying to get comfortable. I opened my book and began to read. The plot started to get interesting when a shadow blocked my sunlight; I continued reading, wanting to get deeper into the world of my novel, trying not to snap my eyes up to the distraction.

“Sam?” A male voice asked.

I sighed and looked up to see a blond boy with hazel eyes, Jeremy. He had a grin plastered on his face, showing off his pearly white teeth. He slowly sat down next to me, as if asking for permission to sit. I nodded. He looked down at my lap and took the book from my hands, examining the blurb. I was a bit annoyed at his actions, but decided to let him go.

“Hi Jeremy.”

“A song of fire and ice?” He asked looking at me from the book. I nodded and took the book from his hands. He leaned back on the bench and turned his whole body to face me. “Listen, I was wondering whether you’d like to come to a party?”

“What’s the occasion?” I asked in a monotone.

“My 19th birthday. It’s this Saturday.” He said with a huge smile on his face. I returned the smile.

“I’d love to come. You only turn 19 once, right?” I really wasn’t as excited as I should have been, but I need to socialise a bit more and this seems like the perfect opportunity.

He was obviously happy with my answer. He jumped up and pulled me into a hug, which I awkwardly returned. I had a thought which I voiced “What do you like?”

“Huh?” He tilted his head with a confused expression plastered in his face.

“I need to get you a present.” Jeremy immediately waved off the suggestion.

“No, Sam, no. You’re still new here, no presents from you.” He said with a pointed finger. I would feel bad for not getting him anything. I’ll just give him some money or something. “Well Sam, nice chat. I am gonna go and sort out other guests. Enjoy the book.” He glanced down at the book in my hands. I smiled and waved as he jogged off down the street.

A party… fun.
