"Priestly did you get all the boxes from the car!" My dad yells from across our brand new penthouse.
"No. There are still a few boxes that you or the movers need to grab because they are a bit too heavy for me to carry." I say back.
It is our first day in New York city. We moved here because my fathers was offered this huge job in some big law firm. But let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Let's start from the real reason we had to get away from the only place we've ever called home.

One cold winter morning I woke up to the sound of screaming coming from the kitchen. This wasn't a new occurrence. My parents had been at each other's throats since my dad caught my mother sleeping with the slutty assistant she hired to work for her. My dad had been sceptical of this man from the beginning and he knew that something bad was going to come of him yet he still hoped that nothing would happen and all would be okay. Sadly we cant all get what we want in life no matter how hard we fight for it.
My dad did his best to piece together what was left of the marriage. He made my mother attend couples therapy so that he could better understand why she did what she did, but nothing is helped. She disappeared during the night one day. All that was left behind of her was the divorce papers my dad gave her the month before, signed and completed.

Today is my first day of school in the big city, and my dad's first day of work. He was nervous as a new born kitten, bless his heart. I made lunch for him and left a sweet little message on a sticky note that I placed on top of his thermos. He also made me lunch in a way. In all honesty he bought Chick-Fil-A and just moved it from the original packaging to some Tupperware and placed it in a lunch box along with some cash for a soda from the vending machines that we saw in the cafeteria when we visited upon out move.
School has never been easy for me. Well the learning part is simple. I get by with straight As. It's the people that I find difficult. I was always bullied because I was weird or nerdy or because I never talked to anyone. There were also just those girls who were out to get anything that was living. They were the worst
I didn't have any friends at my old school. I just did a lot of reading to pass the time and also so I wasn't just awkwardly sitting there. I'll be fine if I don't make any friends in here. I only have two years left to go anyway."Excuse me ma'am." I say to the Secretary when I enter the schools office, "I am new here and I was told that I was to pick up my schedule with you." She smiled brightly as she nodded and handed me my schedule. I suppose they don't get many new students at this school in the middle of the year. That's not shocking though, because it's not just some regular public school.
My first class is AP Studio Art: 2-D Design. I am taking it for photography and painting, my two biggest artistic passions. I went to a public school back home and they didn't offer class options like this one so I was so happy when I was able to get this class here at Vanguard Preparatory School. I have been painting since I was 9, it always just came naturally to me. All of the teachers at my school in Mississippi would tell me to stop doing art and focus on a reasonable career such as nursing or accounting. I guess when you're from a small town like that you can't really focus on such a big, unimaginable goal. To become a world renowned artist would be something not-of-this-world to them.
"Alright class settle down." The teacher, Ms.Ellie Tratt I think her name is, calls from the front of the room. She has long black hair, that is pulled back from her face into a messy bun, and she is entirely covered in paint. So much so its hard to see her olive skin through the array of colours. "It is a brand new school year and with that we are going to be starting off with a photography project. I will pair each of you up from random draw to work on this project. You will each be the photographer and the model and you will be receiving separate grades for each. You will also present your final work in front of the class at the beginning of the week after next. The images are to be placed throughout a slide show with each slide detailing the image and crediting which of you took the photo and also where the props and clothes used came from. The theme of your project is Avant Garde meaning I want to see strange and over-the-top pieces in each of your photographs. As you may have figured out by now you will have two weeks to complete your project. The school will also be providing each of the groupings with a Nikon D750 Dslr camera to take the pictures with. Please do not break them they cost quite the pretty penny. " She says very quickly and to the point. It was honestly quite hard to keep up with all of the information she was providing. "Please write your name on the piece of scratch paper that I have passed to each of you and drop it into the bin as it comes to you so I can do the random selections." She finishes. After I place my name in the bin I kind of space out until I hear my name called saying that I am partnered up with someone named Haiden Oxford.
"Hey Priestly!" Someone calls after me as I am leaving the class which is strange because I have yet to meet anyone and I did not make any indication as to who I was during that class.
"Yes?" I say turning around to see a very masculine guy with perfect hair and beautiful blue eyes.
"Hi. I am Haiden Oxford, your partner for the art project." He reaches out his hand.
"How did you know that it was me?" I ask as I shake is hand.
"I have never seen you around here before and we haven't had a new student in a year or two, especially not one with a name like Priestly." He smiles.
"Oh. Well um if you would like to exchange phone numbers then we can start talking about ideas for the project."
"Good idea," He passes me his phone and I pass him mine,"What class do you have next?"
"AP Lit. You?"
"Ah, I have the psychology elective." The first bell rings signalling 3 minutes until the next class starts. "I'll text you later today if we don't see each other at lunch. Until next time Miss. Priestly." He smirks and starts walking the opposite direction of where I am standing.
I am utterly intrigued by him....

A/N Welcome to the crazy world of the ideas that are in my mind. So what do you think is gonna happen between Haiden and Priestly? Do you think she is gonna end up liking him? Please vote and comment and all that fun stuff :) I really appreciate the love.<3
