This is quite a difficult puzzle to get your head round but when you do it makes perfect sense.
In order to ensure you have the correct bottle that is poisoned you must first number all the slaves from 1 to 10.
Then do the same with the bottles only 1 to 1000
Now comes the tricky bit, convert all the numbers on the wine bottles into binary.eg: 98 becomes 0001100010
Now give the slaves that their number correspond to a 1 in the bottle binary.
Eg for bottle 98, slaves 4,5 and 9 would try it. Do this for all bottles
after 2 days the configuration of slaves that died will tell you the number of the bottle that is poisoned.
