"You alright there?" Eli asks in a questioning voice.
"Um.... yeah." I reply, looking over my shoulder, scanning the crowd. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just need some air."
Eli notices my distraction and starts looking around trying to figure out what I'm looking for.
Realizing that I look like a paranoid crackhead, I shake my thoughts and smile up at him, "What are you doing here? I thought you were working all night?"
"We had plenty of coverage. It was slow and I was bored. Besides, I really wanted to ruin your hot date." He responds with a smirk.
I roll my eyes, "For the last time, it's not a date. Besides, Tyler is off somewhere with Chloe sucking face."
"Yikes, dumped before the date was even over? That's gotta hurt, do you need a hug?" He jokes.
I hold both of my middle fingers up in his face and turn on my heels to start walking away.
"Just kidding, Sensitive Sally, where are you going?"
"I'm going to find the bathroom so that I can pee, then I'm gunna get another beer." I reply.
"I was gunna head up to the bar and get myself one. Meet me over there and I'll get you one. Or three." He smiles.
"Make it six, and I'll be there. I don't like odd numbers." I shoot him an awkward wink and head to the bathroom.
I wash and dry my hands, and give myself a once over in the mirror. "Meh." I say to myself. I open the bathroom door and walk out into the deserted hallway. I pull out my phone and decide to text Chloe to see how she's doing. I hit send and shove my phone back into my back pocket.
"Glad to see your phone works." Says the unexpected voice that stops me dead in my tracks.
I look up into a pair of dark eyes and mentally kick myself for not leaving when I thought I saw him earlier. "What the hell are you doing here, Adam? How'd you find out where I was?" I ask in an annoyed tone.
"It wasn't difficult. I didn't have a choice. Seems to be the only way I could get you to talk to me." He says, walking towards me.
"We have nothing to talk about. You need to leave." I reply, crossing my arms.
"Oh, we have plenty to talk about. Lots of catching up to do."
"Hm, nope. Nothing comes to mind. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm busy. Great talk though." I say.
I go to walk passed him and he grabs my wrist, preventing me from walking any further, "Ry, don't walk away from me. Just talk to me, hear me out damnit."
"No thanks. Now I suggest that you let go of me." I say tugging to free my wrist from his grip.
"Not until you agree to talk to me."
"Fuck off, and let me go." I say glaring up at him.
He only tightens his grip, causing my free hand to come up and connect with his cheek. His eyes flash with rage and the next thing I know my back is being slammed up against the wall, causing me to wince. I have never seen this side of Adam before, and the sudden shock and fear run through me preventing me from being able to move, let alone protest. He grabs my jaw and forces me to look up. "God damnit Rylee, you're being selfish and it's really pissing me the fuck off. I drove all the way here, and I am not leaving until you quit being a bitch, and talk to me. I made a mistake. I'm human, it happens. I'm sorry, okay? I'm fucking sorry. How many times do I have to say it? I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you. I love and need you Ry, you're my everything. Please forgive me."
We're interrupted by a group of girls turning the corner, heading for the bathrooms. He immediately lets go of my face and drops his hold so that I'm no longer shoved up against the wall. Without a word or a second thought, I take off, feeling relief when I round the corner and am surrounded by others. I stop running, but continue to walk at a fast pace and head for the nearest exit. I need to get the hell out of here. I hear Eli calling my name, and I turn to see him get up from the bar and head in my direction. "I need to go." I holler back at him, and don't slow down. I get outside and start fumbling for my car keys when Eli catches up to me.
"Hey! Where are you going?" He asks, and a look of concern spreads across his face when he sees me. "What's wrong?" He tenses, and that look of concern turns to anger, "What happened to your face?" He asks, observing it with his gentle touch.
"Nothing, I just need to go." I say shaking his hands away from face. I can't find my god damn car keys" I say, digging franticly through my purse. I stop what I'm doing when sudden realization hits me. I slap my palm to my forehead and laugh out loud. "Seriously!"
Eli looks at me, "What is it?"
"I'm a dumbass. I can't find my car keys because I didn't drive. Tyler did."
"Come on. I'll give you a ride." He says and starts walking towards the parking lot.
He stops and turns when he realizes I'm not following him, "You comin'?"
"Are you sure? You don't have to, I can get a cab."
"Don't be an idiot, I wouldn't offer if I didn't want to. Trust me." He says with a soft smile.
