Alex? I asked. Dylan, he said. Baileys parents signed her up for the program, I said. Yeah? Obviously, he said. That means all of us will be in the program together, I said. Duh. Keep up, dude, he laughed. Why hasnt her parents told her? I asked. I dont know, man. Maybe theyre waiting for the right moment, he said. And that would be? I asked. I dont know, he said.
Well, they should tell her soon. Especially, with the condition shes in now, I said. You know the program wont let her go into the field. Shell be fine, he assured. I know but still, I said. Its your fault, he snickered. I know, I sighed.
Wanna walk up there? he asked. Nah. Give it a couple more minutes. Rachels probably talking, I laughed. True, he laughed. Do you think her parents know? Probably not. I mean I think her mom knows and Im not dead so I highly doubt her dad knows. he said.
True but what will happen when he finds out? I asked. I dont actually know. Is it bad that Im kinda scared what will happen when he finds out? No its not bad. I mean every guy would be scared when their girlfriend tells their dad that the guy, he had no idea that she was even dating, got her pregnant just before months before she joined the program, I admitted.
You really know how to make me feel better about the whole thing, he laughed. Im very good at that. It attracts all the ladies, I laughed. Are you ready to go in now? Dylan asked. Yeah. Maybe Rachel will be done talking by the time we deal with this guy, I said.
Guy? he asked. Yes. Guy. He followed us from McDonalds. He kept his distance but he didnt say back far enough and Im glad the girls are inside so he cant hurt them if he has a partner, I said.
Weapons? he asked. Keep it hidden. Dont want to spook the guy before we even got to the vehicle, I answered. Okay. You already? he said as he holstered his weapon. Yeah, I said as I holstered mine.
We hopped out of the truck and headed for the strange vehicle. When we got to the vehicle, Dylan knocked on the drivers window and I knocked on the passenger's window. The person inside rolled down both windows.
Can I help you? the man said. I thought you could enlighten us on why you followed us from McDonalds to here? Dylan asked. My daughter lives in the house across the street and I was just getting the nerve to walk up there and talk to her. I bought her dinner, the man said as he showed us the McDonalds bag. Why do you need to gather the nerve to go up to your daughters house? I asked.
It has been over four years since I seen her and we are not on good terms, the man answered. And why is that? Dylan asked. I had to go away for most of her life on business, he admitted. What kind of business? I asked. Thats classified. Im sorry, the man said.
Well we are not leaving until you get out of your car and go up there, Dylan said. Well you are in the way of the door so I cant really get out, he said. My bad, Dylan said as he moved out of the way so the man could get out. Thank you, the man said as he opened his door and got out. Packing? Thinking I was going to hurt someone? How did you know was packing? Dylan asked. Your gun shows. Next time shove it in the back side of your pants. Its less noticeable. You too, the man said as he pointed to me. Good to know. Carry on, I said.
We watched him go up into the house, knock on the door, and go inside. Can we go inside now? I asked. Yeah. Lets go, Dylan said.
