My heart broke into smithereens. I know the heart is actually a muscle and can't really break but that's what it felt, like it was breaking and Sasuke was throwing the pieces to the wind. Why did it have to be him? The cold bastard didn't have a heart to love anyone other than himself. I hated him, I hated him, I hated him with a blinding anger.
"Naruto? Are you okay?" Iruka asked carefully.
"Ah, yes" I wiped my tears with my sleeve "I'm fine"
"Okay" he answered uncomfortably. I could tell that he was nervous
"I'm fine Iruka" I said trying to make him at ease
"Let me heal your wounds" he offered
"No, I'm good" I refuted. I liked pain, I liked the way it made me feel alive.
As we got closer to our house, I healed my wounds because I didn't want my mom to worry
"I don't understand" Kakashi said "why did he kiss you if he loved your sister? Or is there more to this story?"
Only if he knew
"Are you going to tell me or?" He pressed on
"Oh look, we are home" I said trying to distract him from the topic "we don't have an inn in our village and we don't have a spare room in our house"
"Oh" he said rubbing his chin
"But you can share a room with Iruka" I offered. His face took on an unidentified expression and I assumed he didn't want to share a room.
"Or I can share a room with Iruka and you can have the extra" I suggested
"Oh no no, I'm perfectly fine with sharing a room with Iruka, you're okay with me sharing your room right Iruka?" Kakashi said fervently
"I'm okay with it" Iruka replied with a faraway smile
I adjusted my hair and pulled up my glasses as we approached the front door
"Mom?" I called
"Is that you honey?" She called from the herbs garden
"Y-yeah" I stuttered, brushing the tears away
"Sweetie, what's wrong?" Mom asked
"I-I ran into the king today and he wants Naruko!" I wailed into my mom's shoulder
"Oh dear, don't worry darling we'll figure it out. Let's go talk to your dad" she replied fondly
She held my hand and we walked up the stairs to my dad's room. Tears sprang up in my eyes at the thought of disappointing my dad.
"What is the problem Naruto?" His deep voice boomed
"I-I'm sorry for failing you dad" I cried "the king is asking for Naruko, he thinks she's my twin!"
"Hmm" my dad rubbed his chin deep in thought "go to bed, your mother and I will sort it out"
As I went to bed that night, I hoped they'd find a solution to the problem so that I'll be able to enjoy my 29 days in peace
I woke up the next morning with dark circles beneath my eyes. I didn't sleep very well, every time I closed my eyes, I saw Sasuke. That didn't help matters one bit.
"Morning Iruka, Kakashi" I greeted groggily
"Hmm" replied Iruka
"Morning Naruto" Kakashi greeted back
I look up at the both of them. Kakashi looked too happy, Iruka had insect bites on his neck and he walked with a slight limp as if he hit his toe somewhere.
I - on the other hand - was terrified, any little trigger could have I or my parents' head rolling at the King's feet.
My head was too pretty to roll on the floor.
When we arrived at the palace, I noticed that I was fidgeting, I didn't want to die.
The palace doors swung open and I saw Sasuke sitting on his throne, my breath got caught in my throat.
"Greetings our King" mother greeted
"Where is Naruko?" He drawled lazily
"At her wedding, Your Highness" my mother responded coolly "we cannot break the marriage bond as we would not want war"
"I DON'T CARE!!!" He boomed "I'LL HAVE YOUR HEADS IF YOU DARE DISOBEY ME!!"
"Sasuke!" A voice called from the side door "we don't need a war at this point in time"
"But father-" Sasuke tried to cut in
"No buts, rule wisely"
"Very well then, I'll keep Naruto till you get me Naruko"
"What?!" My dad asked furiously
"You are not going to touch my son!" My mom screamed at him
"Guards, take him away" Sasuke ordered with a bored expression on his face
The guards took me to a room I assumed belonged to Sasuke. I stayed on my knees and cried, I didn't want to lose my parents. The door was suddenly pushed open and Sasuke came in.
"Please let me at least say goodbye" I said with tears in my voice
"Shut up" he barked "from now on, you're mine. You do what I say whenever I say it. Are we clear?"
I nodded. I wasn't dumb, I'd play the weak maiden now and strike later and maybe even get a few more kisses.
"Good" he took a step forward and I took a step backwards
"Stand still" he ordered and I froze.
Soon, a cool pair of lips came over mine and I could feel the curse take action.
I was supposed to be finding a way to run away but I couldn't think. All my nerves were focused on my lips and all the blood in my veins rushed southwards.
