Brielle

I flipped the page of the book I was reading. My eyes danced across the pages. Everyone's voices echoed loudly in the lunchroom, but I turned the out. My focus was on the book in my hand. Another romance novel I had been sucked into.

"You're going to become an actual book worm," Sydney plainly spoke, her eyes never leaving her phone.

"Its no secret that I'm a book worm. Don't distract me, I'm almost done with this chapter," my eyes never leaving the page.

Romance novels were my guilty pleasure. Majority of the reading I did in my free time was from a romance novel. Fantasy, thriller, or just regular romance. I read them all. The idea of a love great enough for a story is amazing to me.

Josh & Dylan soon joined the table. I didn't look up. I was determined to finish this chapter. Only a few pages left.

"Ooo, waterfalls of time," Josh lifted up my book slightly to see the cover.

"Stooop," I whined.

"She's in the zone man, there's nothing you can do to pull her out of it," Dylan held back a laugh as he watched me. I couldn't retort. I was determined to finish.

He pulled my chair closer to him. He placed his arm around my shoulder, trying not to laugh at how unbothered I was. I crossed my legs as I placed my book on my knee.

"What did you do to Alyssa?" Sydney's voice was full of annoyance.

"What do you mean?" Dylan replied.

"You obviously did something to her. She's been asking about you in the group chat,"

"Group chat?" Josh perked up.

She rolled her eyes before placing her phone on the table. "Yes, the cheerleaders have a group chat. Well two. One for practice related conversations the other for important unrelated info,"

"You mean who's dating who?"

"Important," she flipped her hair. She focused her attention back on Dylan. Her expression stern. "Now what did you do,"

I didn't have to look to see the smug look on his face. He was relishing in his triumph. Whatever his plan was supposed to do, it was working.

"I didn't do anything. Maybe she's just curious,"

"Ew," she turned her nose up. "Who would ever be curious about a dog like you?"

"You. I'm you're favorite animal,"

"I'd have you put down,"

"You'd put me down alright. Right down your-"

She slammed her hands on the table. She picked up her plastic knife & pointed it at him. "I'll neuter you my self!"

"You want to get in my pants so bad,"

"I'LL KILL YOU!"

"Oh my God Shut up!" I yelled. Everyone at the table was now looking at me. Josh was frozen with half a slice of pizza hanging out his mouth. Sydney's arms were crossed as she sent a deadly glare towards Dylan. Dylan was now focusing on his food.

"Why couldn't you guys postpone the lunch fight until after I finish my chapter? Seriously,"

It was clear that I was annoyed. Despite becoming accustomed to their fights, I wanted to finish my chapter. Had they waited a few minutes then I wouldn't have cared.

"It's all his fault. If he wasn't so disgusting,"

"Why can't you admit that you want me?" Dylan smirked.
