Dear Reader,

I warned you. I'm not good at romance. Well, at least not if you like Happy Ever After.

In my worlds, things tend to go horridly pear-shaped. Well, on the other hand, there always is hope. Pyre has been floating around in my head for quite a while, I hope will help throw some light on my "Avebury Witches" Cozy Mysteries. If you haven't read them yet, I can strongly recommend them. They are different in tone, full of humour and yes, they are mysteries, not action or fantasy adventures. Though they contain elements of both genres and, of course, some romance as well.

My magical misfits are very dear to my heart.

And, speaking of magical misfits, it should be obvious that my mysteries tell the story of the redheads. For that's the good news - Rosy's sacrifice was not in vain, nor was Bill's death. Together, they gave the Red Wardens a new lease on life. "In My Attic", "Down the Hatch" and "Out of Body" are set over 400 years after "Pyre", around the year 2010 to be exact. By then, most of the lore has got lost and boy, those skylles have got rather sketchy... But there are relics of the past strewn about, and Myrtle Coldron (!), her familiar Petty, the zombie primula, and the whole chaotic coven are trying to work out what happened in the past, while sleuthing for murders in the present. Needless to they, there will always be some sort of link between the murder and the magic - even if the link is only in Myrtle's mind.

The two Cursed Times novels "What Now?" and "Only Yesterday!" are set ten years after the mysteries, and tell the story of a young woman who thinks she's the last of the European witches

Correct.

Keeper Colin's offspring has also made it into the future.

As I said, there always is hope, even in the world we call ours

As I said, there always is hope, even in the world we call ours. At the very least, we should voice our concerns over the path humankind is taking. One voice might be overheard. But not if there are many.

For my part, I'm deeply concerned.

I'm also convinced that planet Earth will survive, even if we do not.

But - let's not allow that to happen, shall we? We do have it in our hands, even without the magic.

Take care,

Lina Hanson, July 2017
