Chapter 12: Miss Fairy Tail (Part 2)

Natsumi's POV:

I can't do this.

I'm going to kill Layla.

There is no way I can do this.

I am seriously going to kill her.

"Sumi, we don't have time for this!" Luna yelled from outside my door while knocking furiously. I imagine her face is already red with frustration.

"Justin will be here any minute to take us to the guild," She said exhasperated. I clutched onto the scarf in my hands.

"Sumi, you can't hide in there forever," Luna said calmly, "You're gonna have to come out at some point."

I shook my head, which was dumb since she couldn't see me.

"Yes, I can and I will." I said crossing my arms and leaning back on the wall.

I glanced down at the scarf in my hands and sighed, bringing it up to my lips.

I don't want to let anyone down but I'm too nervous. I wish Dad were here to cheer me up...

As if she could hear my thoughts, Luna called out, "Dad! I need some help up here!" Soon enough after I heard footsteps pounding up the stairs in a rush.

"What? What happened are you and your sister okay?" Dad asked frantically, probably looking around for a possible threat.

"Everything's fine Dad," Luna said, "It's just that I can't get Sumi out of her room."

"Ohh, I see." He said then proceeded to knock on my door.

"Hey, Firecracker, what's the matter?" He asked. "You were fine this morning, what happened?"

"I'm nervous," I admitted. "I'm afraid I'm going to make a fool of myself in front of all those people."

"Oh no." He said and swung the door-which I could've sworn was locked-open then grabbed me by my shoulders.

"Oh hell no." He shook me. "This isn't the Natsumi I know. What happened to my confident I-don't-give-a-fuck-what-anyone-says daughter?"

I pointed outside the door, "She's at the guild with Mom."

"No," he said, "She's standing right here in front of me." He let go of my shoulders and grabbed my face.

"Compared to everything you've ever done, this pageant is nothing. If you can kick the ass of some of the most notorious mages, who says you can't strut your stuff at the guild's pageant?" He took the scarf from my hands and started to wrap it around my neck.

"I was blessed with three beautiful daughters and a wife. So far, three out of my four beauties embrace it. So, Sumi, as soon as you walk through the guild's doors, I want you to walk in there with the same confidence as you always do."

He carressed my hair, "Because win or lose, you will always be the most beautiful to me." Dad kissed my forehead and hugged me tight. While hugging him back, I took in deep breaths to compose myself.

We let go and Luna walked over to us and placed her hand on my shoulder.

"Are you ready now?" Luna asked. I turned towards Dad and nodded.

"I'm ready." I said turning back to her. Luna clapped with a bright smile on her face.

"Good! Because Justin's here." She took my hand and we rushed out of my room.

We stopped at our front door to say goodbye to Dad.

"Bye, girls." He hugged us both.

"I'll see you at the guild later." Dad paused to take a look at me.
