Mojoba!!! Mum voice jolted me from my thoughts.. " Your dad is here"I sat nervously beside my sister in our two rooms apartment.
I had previously envisioned my dad a fair, handsome tall man in suits.. only memory I had of him was being in his arms as a toddler, and looking up adoringly at him. I haven't seen him since then, now at the age of 6.. I look sideways at my sister.. looking for clues on how to act around this stranger who is meant to be part of our family... but she was already up ,and on the move towards the man in-suits with her arms outstretched.
My mom beckoned at me to move forward, with a smile. I looked at mum and then the stranger.. then walked up to him with uncertain steps..he pulled me forward and hugged me close.. pulled out a chair from the dining and sat me on his knees.
"So, dear what did you have for lunch today" he asked. " Beans*I replied, shy to look up at his face, while wanting for him to desperately like me
He smiled at me , while reaching for a brown-leathered purse from his shirt, opened and pulled out new notes" Go ,buy some sweets" slowly easing me down from his knees
I collected the money, while smiling gratefully at him and hopped off, happyWhile chewing on my Goodies..I sighted Tayo , my landlord's daughter and "my best friend .." joba! " She called .. I hear, your dad is around. I saw him when I was upstairs looking for you.. he is so handsome" she said, smiling from ears to ears . I nodded in reply, while shoving a bar of candy in my mouth.. " he gave me money" I said
A whoof of bark from Murphy jolted us both,as we both turned to find out the cause of the dog's sudden excitement.. "look!.., she appears as if she is going to be birthing soon" Tayo, said pointingly at the dog,who was moving towards us, with her tail wagging..
" Yeah" I replied as i bent to scratch to scratch the dog's back..
A wave of breeze, seeped into the compound, lifting our clothes, ruffling leaves of the gauva tree.
The dark cloud shifted, casting its shade over the sun.. signifying the night's presence
"Well, I have to go, before my mom start calling out for me" I said retreating.. "bye" I waved as I ran up to house..
