"You sure you don't want to go to the doc? I mean...you kinda look like-"
"Death?" I cut Brendon off. He chuckled a little, "well... yes."
I slightly smiled and shook my head. "As much as I would love to waste your time to go wait in a doctors office just to get some medicine," I sighed," I'll just stay home and rest it off."
Brendon waited a little but nodded. "Okay... but call me if anything, okay? I'll be at practice."
I hummed in response. You see, Brendon was an amazing brother who cared for his big sister, which makes this 1000 times harder. As I saw him exit my room I slowly made my way to my window to see if his ride had come to pick him up. Maybe five or six minutes later his ride came and he was out of sight. With my parents working until late at night, this gave me a good amount of time. Today's the day.
Taking a deep breath, I made my way to the bus stop. My mind kept wondering somewhere else, thinking about different scenarios and what I would see once i got there. I've been told many different stories and heard so many point of views, but now i can finally experience this moment. I don't know if I should feel thrilled that I'm going to see the towns' biggest secret or feel extremely nervous that I can meet the child who's living a horrible life so that the citizens of this town could live a happy life.
With all these thoughts running through my head, I almost didn't notice the bus coming. The bus halted and open its' doors. I stepped in to see the one and only, Paul. "Madeline, since when did you work this early?" I smiled at his comment.
"Um, I'm not going to work today, Paul. I'm sick." I swiped my card and to my surprise, there was no one on the bus.
"You seem busy today, Paul." I said with a sarcastic tone. I sat in the first seat to my right and looked out the window.
Paul began to laugh, "Yup. Very busy. So, where are you going Mrs'I'm sick'?"
Without looking away from the window, I spoke, "The Omela Hall."
I could feel Pauls' eyes glancing at me through the rearview mirror. He didn't speak a word after my response. He knew.
