The Slytherin Nobody Expected

Chapter One: How it all began

A little girl, around the age of eleven, is standing alone right in between platforms nine and ten at King's Cross Station. She has quite a handful on her trolley. She looks at her ticket, frustrated. She asks the short, pudgy man in an official workers outfit. 

"Um, excuse me sir. Do you know the way to platform nine and three quarters?" she asks timidly. She hated to bother the man, but if she didn't she would miss the train. 

"Ain't no such thing. Been here seven years and every year someone asks me that." the worker muttered and wandered away. The girl slumped down against the wall, hiding her head in defeat. At this rate, she wouldn't be going to Hogwarts at all. 

"I knew you didn't have it in you to be special." she whispered to herself, crying. 

"Pardon me, but I couldn't help noticing you need help finding the platform?" said a voice above her head. The girl looked up to find a pair of green eyes meet her brown ones. "Muggleborn?" she asks, with a soft tone. 

"Yea," The little girl said. "Are you a-" She dropped her voice to barely a whisper. "Witch too?"

The older girl laughed. "Yes I am! Well lets get you onto the platform shall we?" she said brightly. "Now, all you have to do is run straight through between platforms nine and ten." She laughed when she saw the shocked look on the younger ones face. "It's easy I promise," she said with a smile. "Just watch." She positioned herself  with her trolley and ran headfirst into the wall. The younger girl watched in amazement. Finally, she got up and positioned herself. She took a great deep breath and started to run. She closed her eyes and when they opened, she was back in King's Cross. Only, it was way busier and only had one scarlet train. As she looks around, she spots the older girl waving her over. She jogs over and the older one says, "Now that wasn't so hard was it?" The younger shook her head. Suddenly, the younger girl gets shoved by two boys rushing by. A rather heavy boy followed them, trying to catch up. Another boy goes by, much slower than the rest. He had brown hair and brown eyes with quite large bags under them. He also had one large scar across his face. He was, in the younger's opinion, quite attractive. He stops and says to the younger one,

"Sorry about that. My friends tend to get a little crazy at times." He rubbed his neck and the older girl glared at him. He walks away sheepishly and the older girl reaches out her hand to the younger girl. "I'm Lily by the way," she said. "Lily Evans." 

The younger girl takes Lily's hand and dusts off her "muggle" clothes. "I'm Jade" she said. "Jade Paccino." 

Jade awakes with a start, her breath ragged and unsteady. She hated having dreams, good or bad. She rested her head on the pillow and tried to fall back asleep. After several minutes of tossing and turning, she got up and pulled on her black robes. It's hard to believe that that day only happened four years ago. She thought to herself. She walked along the long empty corridor, running her hand across the cold stone wall. As she stepped into the common room, the greenish glow is a bit over whelming. She sits down in her favorite spot, the little seat in the window that shows the lake. Sometimes, she even sees the giant squid swim by.  She sighs. I wish I could be like the squid. Just swim away from responsibilities and this stupid prejudiced school. She leans her head down on one of the plush green embroidered pillows. As her mind soon drifts away, her eye lids become heavy with sleep once more.

"Hey can I sit in here?"  Jade's head whips around  to see a girl with black and purple hair standing in her compartment doorway. 

"Sure go ahead." Jade said, turning to face the girl.

"I'm Adrienne by the way," The girl said. "Adrienne Holbrooke. You are?"

"Jade. Jade Paccino." Jade said timidly. She was never good at making friends so Jaden was always very awkward.
