Life of A Fifth Grader

1) New Girl

     I'm in my new school's bathroom. I don't want to look like a fool when I enter, I know how fifth graders can judge you because of how you look. So I fix my brown hair, fix my black t-shirt which is under my blue denim jacket. I put one strap of my backpack over my shoulder and I walk out.

I walk towards room 20 and take a deep breath. Just be you, I tell myself.
Here I go, I pull the door handle towards me and walk into the classroom slowly.

Everyone stops what they were doing and turn to look at me. Then the whispers start going around. I hear things like, "Who's she?" "Maybe the new girl?" "She has nice eyes.." I walk awkwardly to the teacher's desk, which is in the back of the classroom. When she hears my footsteps, she looks up at me with her green eyes and smiles. "Hi there! You must be the new student?" Her smile is so welcoming. I think I'm going to like this teacher. She seems awesome already. I smile back and look at her eyes, "Hi! Yeah..I am. I'm Hailey. Hailey Cervantes."

"It's so nice to have you here! I'm Mrs. Stewart. Let me introduce you to the class." She stands up and walks in front of the class, me following behind. She raises both of her hands, palm facing palm, and she claps three times.

All the noise and talking quiets down and they all turn to Mrs. Stewart and I.

"I would like to introduce Hailey, a new student who will be joining our classroom." She motions towards me and I smile at my new classroom. To be honest, I'm nervous. I don't know if they are actually mean, or nice, maybe they won't accept me as their friend.
"Hi! As you all know, I'm Hailey! Hailey Cervantes." I tell them, loud enough for them to hear.

"Hiiii Haileyyy!!" They all say together. I see some smiles, waves, and stares from the group. I give a small smile.

"Hailey, take a seat next to Joseph please. Joseph, raise your hand to let her know where you are please."

A boy with a mohawk raises his hand and I walk towards him. I take the seat next to him, putting my backpack under the desk. "Hi." I say to him.

He turns to me, "Hi."

OKAY! So that's the first chapter of this story!
