Chapter 3

~**flashback**~

The day after I arrived inside the trost, Shiganshina district,
I chose to stay at the forest while I'm still new in this place. I wore a below knee-length pants, a black plain shirt and a brown cloak with the hood covering my face.

'I better get my food stock for this week.' I thought.

At noon, I stole food from stalls to houses. Carrying them all with the bag I got from a certain house. But as I was sneaking the last bread I need in the bakery, the baker saw me and caught my hand.

"I CAUGHT A THIEF!"he announced. "SOMEONE HELP ME!"

The people around started pinning me down so I can't escape.

"No, no! Please don't! I'll give you back this breads!"

He snatched the bag I was holding and opened it.

"Aha! You've already stole this many from the other stalls, you little rat!"

A woman stepped in and inspected the bag.

"This is the bag I've been looking throughout my house! It has been missing since noon."

"You even went at the houses?! Curse you!" someone yelled.

The people beat the shit out of me that I can no longer move my body. They threw me in a dark alley.

"Is t-this the e-end for me?" I weakly asked, looking at the setting sun.

I closed my eyes then lost my consciousness.

~timeskip~

My head hurts, my whole body feels numb. I opened my eyes and found myself in a room.

"Oh, you're awake, thankfully." a man with long black hair wearing glasses move towards me.

"How did you get this so much wounds?" he asked. "Some of your bones are also broken."

"..." I stayed silent.

"By the way, I am Grisha Yeager. My son, Eren found you in an alley. You lost your consciousness but thankfully you're recovering faster than a normal person. I have also given you already some pain medicine. Don't worry I'm a doctor." he explained. "What's your name?"

"I-Iva" I responded. "Just Iva"

"Okay, Iva. I will take my leave for sometime, I have a patient at Wall Rose." He said, opening the door.

"T-thank you" I muttered.

"Don't mind it. You can stay here for a while." He told me before leaving the room.

I noticed a young boy and a girl, probably at the age of 12 peeping at the slightly opened door.

"Please come in." I said while smiling.

They were a bit surprised at my sudden invite but also walked inside the room.

"Hello, Miss Iva. I'm Eren and this is Mikasa." the boy introduced.

"Oh, I see you're Eren. Thank you for saving me back there." I smiled.

"Y-you're welcome." he slightly blushed.

I stayed there for almost a week, waiting for my wounds to heal. Mr. Yeager hasn't come back yet. I waved my goodbye to Eren, Mikasa, and Grisha's wife, Carla. We had a lot of fun while I was there.

I was making my way back to the forest when I heard a sudden booming loud crack from the wall. My red orbs widened as I saw the wall, now breached. A titan with unbelievable size have caused the ruckus. Huge fractures of cement was flying all around, crushing some of the people. Eren and his family popped up to my mind.

"I need to go back there, I owed them for saving me. I shall keep them safe."

I rushed towards their house. Keeping them in my mind. But what I have caught up to made my tears make their way down to my cheeks. They're house was crushed and a Titan with a creepy wide smile was standing beside it. I tried calling their names but no one answered.

"EREN! MIKASA! CARLA!"

Then I felt a gigantic hands grabbed me. It's hand was soaked with blood. It was the smiling titan. But thanks to my sharp claws I was able to cut its hands and escape.

I ran as fast as I could. A titan with an armored-like figure was running from a distance towards the gate of wall maria where I am also heading. I sprinted faster, and faster and faster till I reached the gate. I made my way to a ship, ignoring the people who looked at me with awe because of how fast I have ran. Fortunately, I was able to rode on one.

~**flashback ends**~

I remembered the days when I was still meddling with humans. My first days inside the walls was a disaster. I've never forgotten what those people did to me. And I would also never forgot how kind that family who helped me was.

'I hope they're safe.'

I sighed as I ate the last half of the bread I stole yesterday. I stood from my favorite tree's branch, took my satchel, and fixed myself as the dusk arrives.

(Levi's POV)

I was cleaning my desk when I heard a knock at my door.

"Name, business." I said.

"Petra Ral, Captain. I would like to report an incident last night." she stated.

"Come in." I told her while I take my seat.

She went inside and faced me.

"Captain, there was a thief here last night. I'm sorry I forgot to report it to you quickly. She stole some of our breads and broke through the window in the kitchen. But we cleaned the shattered glass and fixed the window already." she explained.

"And then?" I asked.

"Uh ehh.. S-she might come back again." she muttered.

"Why do you know?"

"I-i just feel that she w-will..." she trailed off.

"That will be indeed a problem for us. That thief might steal our food stock and will cause shortage for us." I said in my monotonous voice. "Tell the other soldiers to be prepared at all times. We don't know, she might cause harm."

"Okay, Captain" she saluted.

"You're dismissed." I announced.

'A thief huh?'

(Iva's POV)

I made my way into the castle to get my food again.

"I won't do any mistakes tonight, and I'll make sure I would have a whole week supply." I smirked, putting my hood over my head.

As I arrived, the place was quite so I quickly got in. Since I already knew where the kitchen was, I opened its door slowly. But to my surprise, Mr. Shortie was there and even more surprising, he was looking at me.

I gasped and quickly turned around to retreat. But there was already few soldiers in front of me.

'Is this an ambush? Did they expected me?'

I stood still, thinking of what I should do. I felt a hand snaked around me, grasping me in the hand, twisting it behind then kicking the back of my knee. I lost my balance and fell on the floor.

"OUCH OUCH OUCH! Be a little gentler please!" I complained.

"Is she the one from yesterday?" I heard a monotonous voice asked.

"Yes, captain. She wore the same outfit." the girl I bumped onto last night confirmed.

"So you planned this huh?" I smirked.

I tried to struggle from my capturer's hold but he was surprisingly strong.

"Let me go!" I commanded!

He took off my hood and grabbed me by my hair, making me face him. I can see his oh-so-serious blue orbs looking at me.

"First, tell me your name and why you chose to to steal in the Recon Corps HQ." He said bluntly. "Who are you?"

'Stupid. Don't ask me that. I don't even know who I really am.'
