Griff's POV:
After maybe an hour, Lily and I were still sitting by the lake, in silence.
"Hey Lily. Can we talk?" I looked at Lily's head.
She looked up and sat upright. "Yeah sure. What's up?"
I think I know what I'm doing.
"There's something I've need to tell you." I looked her in the eye.
She stared back at me, saying nothing.
"Lily...I--want to break up with Zuri."
"Then why don't you just do it?" She asked.
"The thing is, I've tried. But nothing has worked, so I don't know what to do." I dropped my head.
She pushed it back up. "You don't love her anymore do you?"
"I never did. It was just a crush."
"So what do you want me to do?" She looked at me curiously.
"Can you just be there for me?"
"Always." Lily smiled.
I put my forehead on hers, and gently smiled.
"If I may ask, what did she do that was so bad? Besides the Todd thing of course."
"She's not right for me. That's all I'll say."
"What about the Kikiwaka Dance?"
Shoot, I forgot about the dance.
"Oh yeah..." I rolled my eyes.
"It's tomorrow. Are you going to break up with her before it?"
"I don't know. I'm still figuring all of this out in my head." She gently laughed.
"Just know that I'll be here for you. Through thick and thin." Lily smiled.
"Through thick and thin."
The breeze came a little strong and made Lily stumble a little.
"Woah!"
I caught her.
She looked me in the eyes as I did with her.
She coughed, looking away. "Thanks."
"Maybe we should head back." She looked back towards the trees.
"Hold on. Just a few more minutes."
"Okay. If you say so."
We sat down next to each other, her head laying on my shoulder. The breeze softened and the waves crashed inches away from our feet.
I looked down at the head on my shoulder.
Boy did I have a great friend.
