Hole in the Wall

"Just like in the training, split up into your individual squads. You will be under the Garrison command!"

The day before joining their chosen regiments, the Colossal Titan returned. Committing the same act as it had done fiver years prior. Mass panic arose, Titans of various sizes sieged the people, wreaking havoc once more.

"Shit. Why today. Fuckin-" The swearing rant was cut off when Annie stomped on William's foot. William didn't have time to ask why when his sister came.

"Have you guys seen Miles, Keren or Bertholdt anywhere?" William shook his head, while Annie just gave a blank stare.

It was pointless really, each soldier in mass panic; some praying, some bringing back up breakfast, others caught up in their fears.

"Suicidal bastard!"

"Jean!" That familiar yell. Both brother, sister ran to the location. No words needed to notify the other, Annie came running up by William's side so as not to be left behind.

By the time they came, Jean was already leaving with an angry expression. Miles could do nothing but sigh to himself at his partner's actions.
Behind him stood Eren and Mikasa, arguing amongst themselves.

"I don't know what you see in him. But there's no time to be concern about your partner." Raine carried a serious expression, knowing now is not the time to fiddle and play.

"Says the one who just asked where Bertholdt was." Turning she moody glared at her brother's antics. The oldest gave a grin in return.

"Shut it. Besides I see you close to Annie as always." Upon the remark William couldn't help but choke at nothing to that.

"Enough with your fighting we need to prepare to go." Annie intervened the sibling banter. She then turned to William. "Don't. Die." And ran off to prepare. Having no time to respond, he only nodded.

"Odin! You're needed in the rear guard!" The superior cut in. Raine nodded and yelled good luck to her siblings before following the superior.

"I'm off to join Squad 34. See you later bro!" Waving goodbye Miles ran off. William looked around, and truth be told he felt a bit unnerved. He looked up to the sky.

"Damn...I forgot to closed the cabin's windows."

"Squad 34, advance! Assist the frontline guard!"

Miles stood at the back of the squad. He saw the enthusiasm that Eren gave to his comrades, giving them hope and confidence, as they began to fly through the deserted streets.

He looked around as they zipped through the road, once in a while glancing at the windows that captured his reflection. It's at this time where Eren yelled to fall back.

Miles did so and saw an abnormal right in front of them. It jumped on all fours to attack the trainees before crashing into a nearby tower.

The squad landed on a roof and stared at the crashed Titan. It drew its ugly head back, revealing something that mortified everyone.

"T-Thomas!!!" Thomas looked at them with tears, he couldn't say another word as the Titan swallowed him up.
It then began to leave, having had its snack.

Miles couldn't just grasp at what just happened. To him everything happened so fast, in a blink of an eye his comrade died right before his very eyes.
