I walked into my house and heard arguing in the kitchen. Storming in, the only thought in my head being my little sisters, I stopped when I saw Clarence, my dad.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, caught off guard and surprised by his presence.

He turned to see me and a small smile formed on his face. "Chaylee."

"What are you doing here?" I walked closer to him.

"You've grown." He ignored me.

"Answer my question." I growled.

He stared at me shocked for a moment.

"I came to try and convince your mother to give me the girls." His eyebrows raised slightly.

I shook my head and walked closer to him. "You're not taking them."

"This isn't your decision." He turned away from me and back to my mom.

I rolled my eyes. "So it's yours after years of you being absent?"

He looked at me surprised.

"Lee." My mom warned.

I ignored her.

"You haven't cared about us. Why now?" I looked into his eyes, questioning his motives.

"I care." He stared back intimidatly.

"You left us after you found out she was pregnant!" I yelled.

"Lee." Both of my parents snapped.

"No. You don't get to do this." I shook my head.

"Lee. Go upstairs." Mom ordered me.

I turned to face her. "Mom."

"Go." She forced.

I stared at her and looked at me more sternly. Rolling my eyes, I turned on my heels and rushed upstairs. As I reached my door two voices stopped me.

"Are they fighting?" Angel asked, fear laced in her voice.

I turned to face her. "What?"

"Mommy and daddy. Are they fighting." Lori asked.

"No. They aren't." I shook my head.

They nodded and an idea popped into my head.

"Do you two want to spend the night in my room? We can build a fort."

Their eyes widened out of joy and they eagerly nodded.

"Go get your pillows and blankets."

They ran off and I walked into my room. I cleared a spot in my floor big enough and the twins ran in, buried behind mounds of pillows and blankets.

"I have to go get more chairs. I'll be right back." I informed them.

They nodded and dropped everything onto the floor. I walked out and back downstairs.

"You can't take them." My mom whisper yelled.

I stepped into the kitchen and both their heads snapped to me.

"I have to get more chairs for the fort." I announced.

"It's a school night." Mom said.

I nodded and moved past them. Walking over to the table, I grabbed three chairs and stacked them before starting to leave. I stopped and turned to face them.

"If this turns into a full blown fight, I will take matters into my own hands. Got that?" I questioned as I looked between the both of them.

They stared at me in disbelief.
