My parents always told me a few simple rules in life to follow while growing up.

Respect your elders.
Always say please and thank you.
Never talk to strange men.
Never walk alone, even more so at night.
Give out good karma to get it back.
Throw salt over your shoulder.
And never cross a black cats path.

I have done my best at being obedient to those rules, along with others, through the last 18 years of my life. But tonight I may have broken a few, and now I am finding myself in a strange situation that I'm sure no one will believe.

It was too beautiful of a night to stay at home. The simple sitting on the front steps to star gaze, soon turned into a long night walk. There wasn't a cloud in the sky;  the stars wanted my feet to dance and move with them, the moon was calling my name, and the warm touch of the wind kept pushing me to keep moving.

Yes, I was alone. Rules broken.

Though the night felt very alive with me, everything stood still when I was now faced with this beautiful and strange man that stood before me. Long, silky black hair. Slender and tall, skin as pale as the moon light. Green eyes that dazzled with the stars. And a crooked smile that could make anyone feel uncomfortable, but draw them in at the same time.

He was beautiful. But his dark clothes were tattered, he wore no shoes, and around his wrists and ankles were heavy chains, that hardly made a sound.

Too top off the strange, he was the black cat that crossed my path. And he went by Nicholas.

You most likely think this is ridiculous and ready to go on your way.

Maybe you will believe me though.

If not, I understand. I can hardly believe it myself.

But this the moment I found out what's hidden in the night.
