. . . . . .

She was acting...odd.

In Liam's opinion. He wasn't sure what was up with her, or what seemed different. He just knew something wasn't right. The way her body language was around him, and the things she said to him, it just wasn't her. And he just didn't know why.

It started a few weeks after school had began, just out of the blue. Liam hadn't said anything stupid or obnoxious. He didn't have a mental break down, or any anger issues or anything of the sorts. He was completely normal, and she was well...not.

Hayden was sitting next to him in class, tapping the end of her pencil nervously on the massive text book in front of her, her leg bobbing up and down in anticipation. Of what? Liam didn't have a clue. He tried to pay attention to the lesson that was being taught before him, but all he could focus on was her heart beating unsteadily. Starting to make him anxious, he quickly gave a fake cough to get her attention.

His demeanor worked, and she turned her head slightly. Not wanting to disrupt the class, Liam furrowed his eyebrows, and cocked his head. She almost instantly shook her head and turned back to the teacher. Pencil still tapping, leg still bobbing, heart still uneasy.

Meaning Liam still anxious.

. . . .

After class, Hayden rushed to get out.

And Liam rushed after her.

He grabbed her arm and pulled her into an empty classroom. "Hayden," His voce stern, but somewhat soft. "What is up with you?"

She almost looked confused. "What do you mean? I'm fine."

"You've been acting...I don't know, weird. I guess. Always fidgeting, and your heartbeat is always crazy. I know you don't sleep well at nights, and you seem like you're constantly worried about something." Hayden shifted uncomfortably in her spot, and looked down, before gazing to the side. Trying desperately to avoid Liam's intense stare. "Look, I don't want to make you feel ill at ease, but I just want to help."

Her eyes flashed to him, the green flecks sparkling in the lights that shown above them. "Thanks, but I don't need any help. I gotta go, I'm going to be late. I'll see you later." There was a slight roll in her eyes, and she bit a small piece of her bottom lip, and practically ran out of the classroom.

Leaving behind Liam, alone.

And yes, he was still anxious.

. . . . . . . .

The day went by with Liam not seeing much of Hayden except at lunch, and their encounter was brief. She didn't eat, but crossed the lunchroom to get to the other side through the exit doors. Liam wanted to chase after her, but found it rather pointless as he was listening to Mason ramble on about some mythological monster he read in a book. And he needed to spend some time with one of his closest and only friends. He also figured that Hayden probably didn't want to talk to him right now anyways.
