it took me a moment to register what was really going on. i stared down at my very much so positive pregnancy test. a million thoughts were racing through my mind but none made any sense. like the fact that i was pregnant. it was an accident. i was out with my friends clubbing, i met a guy there who was absolutely gorgeous in every way. we talked and talked for hours, until finally he invited me back to his place. already tipsy and love struck i said yes so willingly.
my thoughts were foggy but i was still conscious enough to say yes. He was so tall and handsome it was like a dream, fictional character who walks right out the perfect storybook. He was a perfect gentleman, he had took my hand gently guided me. i remember him laying me down on his bed and the feeling of pure ecstasy that ran through me. his voice was so soothing as he whispered sweet things into my ear. and our night together was one of the best nights of my life. but now a week later i'm dumbfounded as I stare at this positive pregnancy test. I don't know how to feel or how to react or even how to get a hold of him. i didn't want to tell anyone, i was too afraid of their judgment. standing up i placed the test on the counter and walked out of my bathroom to get ready for work.
getting dressed and slipping out the door to rush off to my job in a sweet little café. i hurried down the street, as i entered the doors i was greeted with the smell of coffee and sweets. i went into the back and put on my apron, tying my hair up and then heading out to the counter. i took over for my coworker and friend Jinhee.
"you look extra bright today, your skin has this glow." she said to me i laughed it off.
"it's called i forgot to wash my face because i was in a hurry not to be late." she laughed as well and patted me on the back. i needed to tell her. "hey jinhee after work let's go out to eat." i say to her she smiles and gives me a thumbs up.
"great because i'm in need of a drink!" i chuckle, i can't drink now.
the day is busy full of people coming in and out. there was a young mom who held her young daughter in her arms and the two of them seem so happy. This is something I was going to be able to look forward to, this happiness. i smiled at the thought.
it continued on like this lots of people, and then a huge group came in. there were so many young men, one by one they all came up and ordered. and then i saw him. the one who i spent a night full of wonders with. he looked up at me and his eyes became as wide as mine.
"i never thought i'd ever see you again," he says and then smiles "but i'm glad i am."
"actually there's something i need to talk to you about. could you come back after we close. it's really important." i say quietly mostly because i was afraid. he nods and even looks a bit concerned. i have to leave and Jinhee takes over orders again. i slip into the back room heart pounding threatening to jump out of my chest.
it's 8:30 by the time i finish closing, Jinhee is on my arm and we make our way out. i'm afraid he won't show up. i turn to lock the doors and when i turn back around i see him. he walks over to me, gracefully and full of confidence. he makes my heart beat 10x too fast.
"i'm glad you came." i say. he smiles at me and butterflies fill my stomach.
"of course i would." i gesture for him to follow me, Jinhee still latched to my arm we all walk to find a place to sit.
"there's actually something i need to tell you. but it's really funny because it's such a serious matter and i don't even know your name." he chuckles and throws his head down.
"Kim Mingyu. i don't know yours either my dear."
"Park Jia ," i say quietly " so Kim Mingyu i need to tell you something. i'm pregnant." both take a deep breath in shock.

After that night when I told Mingyu everything. he's been calling me everyday to see how i'm doing, how sleepy is doing. i almost feel bad for taking up so much of his time when he's already so busy. he stops into my work often to see me, bringing me lunches and juice. when i go to check my phone during my break i see a text from him.
Mingyu - I want to take you out on a date tonight okay? i'll be by to get you.
Jia - what if i didn't want to go on a date?
Mingyu - sorry you have no choice;) i want to spend time with you and my child.
Jia - fine... at least let me change after work.
Mingyu - already got it covered see you tonight ❤️
he was absolutely charming in every way and i was falling for him. he made me happy and excited. because of him i had an extra spring in my step, well that and sleepy made me so happy as well.
there he was waiting for a hold a light pink gift bag. i raise an eyebrow at him but he just smiles, once i'm closer he steps forward and embraces me into a hug. after a moment he lets me go and then holds out the bag to me.
"here, i tried finding something that's as beautiful as you but i had some trouble. this is as best as i could do." i smiled at him and opened the bag. inside there was a beautiful light blue dress. "go put it on." he said and smiled. i did as he told me and when i came back out his jaw dropped.
"i'll have to thank my hyungs for helping me find that dress because you look beautiful." i blushed, he just made me absolutely happy. he took my hand in his and lead me off.
we reached a nice little restaurant and when we went inside i was greeted by 12 other young men. they all beamed smiles at me and i felt embarrassed.
"woah mingyu hyung you sure picked a good one!" one said i smiled at him.
"i knew that dress would be perfect for her." said another. they all nodded and agreed. mingyu sat me down and then sat next to me.
"everyone i'd like you to meet Park Jia, the beautiful woman who i've fallen in love with." i looked at him with wide eyes. i can't believe he just said that. the boys give cheers. "actually i'm so in love with her there's something i need to do, i was going to wait until after dinner but i don't think i'll be able to," he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small box. "i want you to be with me forever, okay?" he said as he slipped a small yet beautiful ring onto my finger. i looked up to him so excited.
"i would absolutely love that." he smiles so brightly and then kisses my hand gently. everyone is cheering.
"Jia you haven't gotten to meet everyone yet, they all know about you but you don't know them as well."
"hello i'm Seungcheol and i'm so glad to see our little Mingyu so happy." he has a leader type of vibe, very strong and kind.
"i'm Wonwoo, please take care of him for us." i smiled and nodded.
"hello i'm joshua, i'm happy to welcome you to our family."
"i'm jihoon, thank you."
and so they went on, dokyeom, jeonghan, chan, jun, minghao, soonyoung, seungkwan, and vernon.
"Jia-shi if you don't mind me asking you don't look full korean are you half?" Seungcheol asked, i smiled.
"ah yes my mother is american, although i've lived here my whole life." vernon perked up.
"really?? i'm also half. wow i'd say halves are always better looking. wouldn't you agree?" i laughed, he was good looking and i suppose so was i.
we went on with some friendly banter and had a great meal. my now fiancé mingyu walked me home.
"they all love you so much, and i'm glad they do. they're like family to me. and now so are you." i smiled at him brightly, this all felt like a dream.
"would you come in for a moment? there's someone i want you to meet." i lived with my grandma since both of my parents had died in a crash. she was my whole world and i wanted to show mingyu to her.
"do i look presentable??" i giggled and nodded. our hands intertwined and we continued on inside.
I lead him inside and called out to grandma. she gave me a shout back.
"grandma i have someone i'd like you to meet." we walked around the corner and i saw my grandma sitting on the couch watching some drama.
"Hello Ma'am my name is Kim Mingyu." he bowed deeply to her. she raised an eyebrow at me and smiled.
"i'm impressed he has such good manners. so you're the man who has stolen my little Jia's heart. please take care of her." Mingyu gave her a wonderfully large smile and bowed again.
"of course ma'am i plan to do nothing else."
"sit down child, Jia go put on some tea." i go into the kitchen and Mingyu has taken a seat near grandma. this is like a dream.
when i enter the room again the two of them are laughing and getting along so well, it's a bit scary.
"ah Jia you couldn't have picked a better one. just look at how handsome he is, and talented. just perfect." Mingyu blushes at my grandmas praise.
"ah grandma no if anything Jia is the perfect one here." i smiled and brought the tea over. grandmas favorite was jasmine tea.
and so the night went on with us all conversing and i couldn't have been happier. when i was time for Mingyu to leave i saw him out the door.
"I love her so much Jia she's raised you well. I'm glad i got to meet her." i smiled and took his hand in mine.
"I'm glad you did too. she means everything to me and now you do too. you and sleepy that is." i say and then pat my slightly bulging tummy. he smiles.
"You mean everything to me as well Jia. Goodnight love." he leaned down and kissed my forehead and then i went inside.
"Jia does he know?" i give grandma a frown.
"he doesn't need to know grandma, it's not like you're going anywhere." i say looking to the ground.
"Jia you and i both know i don't have much longer."
"yes you do grandma! you'll make it through this! you'll meet sleepy and see me get married! you can't leave me until then!" hot tears ran down my cheeks and i went to her and hugged her. "please don't leave me." i sobbed.
"I promise to stay and meet my great grandchild." she says as she strokes my hair. my grandma had stage 4 lung cancer that soon spread to her bones and at this point it was terminal. but i wouldn't let her go.
