Paganism
Pagan is a latin word ( paganus ) wich means Rustic or Rural. Pagan ( Pagus ) which originally meant 'region delimited by markers')
The latin term Paganismus was used by christian communities in the 4th century.
Modern Paganism, or Neopaganism, can include reconstructed religions such as the Cultus Deorum Romanorum, Hellenic polytheism, Slavic neopaganism (Rodnovery), Celtic reconstructionist paganism, or Germanic neopaganism, as well as modern eclectic traditions such as Wicca and its many offshoots, Druidry, Heathenry, and Discordianism.
Neopaganism is a movement by modern people to revive nature-revering/living, pre-Christian religions or other nature-based spiritual paths.Polytheism: Pagan religions recognise a plurality of divine beings, which may or may not be considered aspects of an underlying unity (the soft and hard polytheism distinction).
Nature-based: Pagan religions have a concept of the divinity of Nature, which they view as a manifestation of the divine, not as the "fallen" creation found in Dualistic cosmology.
Sacred feminine: Pagan religions recognize "the female divine principle", identified as "the Goddess"
Quick message:
Studying isnt just something you do by listening to one person that wrote a book. Not even two people. you research on your own. I will give you a short definition of things, my own thoughts, other peoples thoughts etc. YOU should figure YOU out.
I'm just here to make things a tad easier, dont forget to research on your own.
So now that you know what paganism is and what where working with, ask yourself if you want to learn more about it. Make your own grimoire ( if you want). if you think this isnt enough information, look it up!
Wicca
Wicca is also called Pagan Witchcraft. It was developed in during the first half of the 20th century. Wicca is typically , worshipping a Goddess and a God.
( the Moon goddess and the Horned god )
When the religion first came to public attention, it was commonly called "Witchcraft" instead of Wicca ( more modern )
"Wicca" developed in Britain during the 1960, not that long ago.
Although pronounced differently, the term "Wicca" is derived from the old english "wicca" and "Wicce" for the masculine term Sorcerer* and the feminine term witch.
* we don't call them sorcerers anymore, males are witches, females are witches. we are not different, we arent wizards.
Alongside "Wicca", two other names often used for the religion by its practitioners are "Witchcraft" and "the Craft". However, the use of the word "Witchcraft" in this context is problematic because it causes confusion both with other, non-religious forms of witchcraft as well as other religions. ( satanists, luciferians etc.)
