A loud ringing noise floated the halls of the old building as the students arrived in the canteen. The smell of food filled the big room that was illuminated by small lamps that hung up on the high ceiling. Groups of boys sat down at the oak wooden tables, where little pieces of breakfast were already placed.

A small, brunette boy took place at a table next to one of the windows as two of his friends took place across from him. The boy tried to hide his exhaustion, failing doing so, that came from the schools morning sports exercises. However, his friends knew how he felt so he didn't put much effort in hiding it. Furthermore he concentrated on putting his breakfast on a plate.

"Jogging in the morning is the worst thing this school has to offer, am I right, Mika?"
One of the other two said. The taller boy, called Ivan, looked across the table while chewing on a piece of bread. Mika nodded simply while looking across the hall where all of the other students were already eating and talking with each other. Everything was the same as every winter morning; it was still dark outside, everyone was wearing his uniform and Mikas first lesson was going to be the chamber choir.

Thinking about what might happen that day, he looked around. He zoned out of the conversation his friends were having and recognized a very loud table to his right. Mika detested too much noise in the mornings and too much uncoordinated noise in general. He looked back to his friends who seemed annoyed by the loud boys too and decided to distract himself with an own conversation.

"I didn't get much sleep last night." He stated while readjusting his glasses. The blonde boy in front of him, Viktor was his name, hummed in confirmation while he was eating.

"Me neither." He said a few moments later. " 'M not sure but I think the dude next room played guitar. Or at least it sounded like someone played a guitar in there, that's why I couldn't fall asleep."
Mika and Ivan looked at their friend, asking him silently to go on talking - which he didn't. So again a single loud laughter filled the canteen which caused Ivan to flinch and quickly continue with talking.

"What the heck is wrong with this dude? Can't he shut up for gods sake?" He asked himself more than the others while searching for the source of laughter. Mika, clearly annoyed at this point, shrugged his shoulders and stood up from his chair.

"I'm gonna go, sorry. I'll see you guys in the chamber." And with that he brought his dishes in the kitchen and disappeared through the big door that lead to one of the halls afterwards. He went to Ivan and his room to get his choir binder out there and his spirits lifted. When Mika stepped into the two-beds room he took his time to get ready because he left the breakfast earlier than usual, he checked his tie in the mirror again, took his black little notebook and a pen from his desk and read his last entry again. It was a poetry which he thought was one of his worst;

"My love for it shall not die,
my love for loving,

my love for living,
my love for dying.
My endless, tainted love for dying shall not,
won't ever leave.
Will not leave like the leaves,
the brown leaves in the fall, when the winter is coming and the leaves fall.
I love."

Mika wanted to rip the sheet out but chose not to, at least not until he would manage to write something better. He quickly closed the curtains in the room, cursing his paranoia inside his head for wasting time on this, before leaving the room and walking through the big mansion he called his home more often than he referred to it as his school.
The small boy made his way to the chamber where his first lesson would take place and tapped with his fingers a silent rhythm on the back of his notebook.
When he arrived in the chamber it was still nearly empty so he sat down in front of the piano that stood in the room and thought of a song to play. He decided to play a song called 'Mad World' because it would help him relax and clear his mind just a little more for the choir.

As his fingers flew over the keys, Mika let his mind wander a little, though he still heard the other singers stepping into the light room with its big windows but he didn't care, not until he had finished the song. The music was always his first priority and that was one of the reasons he was one of the best students at Nishni Novgorod Boys Choir College. That and his parents jobs which gave the perfect opportunity for a boarding school, without that He wouldn't even visit the school.
As the song came to an end Mika stood up and stepped away from the piano and when he turned around he saw, just in time, that Aleksander Orlov, their choir conductor, had come into the chamber so Mika quickly placed himself at one side of the line of boys. They were only four boys in the chamber choir but what the small boy didn't realize yet because he was too busy playing on the keys, was that on that day there stood a fifth boy in the line.

After a normal day of school the boys found themselves again in the canteen for dinner. As always Mika, Ivan and Viktor sat together on a table, talking and eating hot, red soup. They talked about everything, the classes, songs to sing and songs to play on instruments.
It was not needed but nearly every student played at least one instrument so they could pick more classes and get a place in the Orchestra. Just as Mika played the Piano, the Cello and the Violin, his friends played instruments too but none of them played in the orchestra for different reasons.

As silent as he was Mika had zoned out of his friends' conversation but started to listen again when he heard the words "new bassist" because he immediately wanted to know this person. For a boy of his small and thin statue he could sing extremely deep, he was the only one that could sing bass in the chamber choir and he'd like to have company while doing so.

"What do you mean with new bassist?" He joined the conversation.

"Well, this dude has been invited into the chamber choir." Ivan, Mikas roommate, replied.
"He was there today, didn't you recognize him? Awesome voice, very tall, he's not that hard to notice."
Mika shook his head, readjusting his glasses afterwards. He was too busy thinking to notice this new guy and his voice.

"I'm gonna try and focus tomorrow.." The brunette mumbled, more to himself than to the other boys, and with that he zoned out of the conversation again.

That evening Mika heard the guitar sounds out of the next room too and definitely stayed awake too long because of that...
