Maintaining My Composure

*3 months later*

Since the day I gave Kadavion my number, we been talking all day, every day. We hung out a lot and he eventually asked me to be his girl. I wanted to say no, because I had some slight feelings for Mason but we were friends and if he liked me, I'm sure he would have told me. Another reason why I thought about saying no is cause I felt we were moving too fast. I said yea though. I was starting to like KD more and more everyday. I didn't wanna pass up something that could be good.

I really just needed someone to take my mind off of Derek. Yes, he ran across my mind a couple of times recently. I don't know why though, because I hate him. Well at least that's what I'm forcing my brain to believe. My heart says otherwise. I still loved D, despite the shit he's done to me. The love I have for him had build for the 2 years we were together, of course it was gonna be a while before it could fade away.

KD would be the help I needed for making that love fade away.

After school, Noah and I went to the mall to do a little shopping and spend some time together.

"Oooo girl, I just have to get me something cute to wear on my next date this weekend!" Noah exclaimed as we advanced into Dillard's.

"Dang dude, didn't you just have a date last week?" I asked.

"Yea, but that was with KyMari. The guy's name that I'm going with this week is Gabe." He replied smiling.

"You gone get caught up, ratchet ass."

"Nu uh, don't you jinx me honey. I got this."

After spending almost 30 minutes in Dillard's, Noah finally found him the perfect fit and we were headed out to grab something to eat at the food court.

We decided on sharing a medium sized pizza. As we stuffed our faces, Noah went on and on about the new guy he'd be seeing this weekend. Eventually I grew tiresome listening, so I tuned him out.

Scrolling through my phone, my actions were cut off when someone called out my name. I turned around in my chair, only to find Mason walking towards me with Alexa Reeds next to him.

"Wassup y'all?" He asked as he approached us.

"Hey Mason," Noah replied.

"Wassup? What y'all doing here together?" I asked him with a frown on my face.

"Oh, she wanted me to-." Mason said before being cut off by Alexa.

"Take me on a date." Alexa said, finishing his sentence with a smirk on her face.

Part of me wanted to slap that smile right off her face. She know what she be doing. But I ain't gone let her get under my skin, just gone maintain my composure.

"No, come on Lex, whatchu lying for?" Mason asked her frowning up.

She just sighed, got on her phone, and walked away.

"She asked me to bring her here to find her mom something for her birthday, that's all." Mason said.

Before I could respond, his phone rang aloud and he answered it.

"Wassup KD?" He said into his phone speaker.

My eyes widened and Noah sensed my nervousness. I just know for a fact this cannot be the KD that I talk to.

"What KD was that that you were talking to?" I asked curiously after he disconnected his call.

"Kadavion. Kadavion Davis." He replied.

Omg, that was him! I just tried to keep my cool, I didn't want him to sense my emotion.

"How you know him?" I asked.

"I met him when we moved away, we been cool ever since. Shortly after I came back, him and his family moved here too. Why? You know him?"

"Mmhm."

"Y'all must be cool or some?"

"Hmm something like that."

He just nodded his head. Little did he know, me and lil Kadavion were closer than he thought. I just hoped he didn't find out before I could tell him myself.

By then, Alexa came back to where we were.

"Um, I still haven't found my moma anything." She said with an attitude.

Mason glanced at her, sighed, and nodded his head. Then he looked back at me.

"Well I'll catch up with you later Cami."

"Okay." I said raising my eyebrows.

"Iigh Noah." Mason said putting his hand up.

Noah waved goodbye.
