Since we just moved in yesterday...it's not quite necessary that I start school immediately.

"LYLA!! Wake up and get ready" my mother swung my bedroom door open as I gazed up at her with sleepy eyes.

"What? Why? What's going on...?" I asked her as she started pulling my blanket off of me.

"Um what do you think? School. Now, go hurry. You don't want to be late on your first day!" My mom informed me then walked out of my room heading downstairs to make breakfast.

Wow. Of course, I should've known my Mom would make me start school as soon as possible.
I groaned and rolled off of my bed landing onto the light brown carpet. Then, I finally got up and walked like I just came out of The Walking Dead show to the bathroom next to my room.

°°°
When I finished getting dressed I packed my classic black Jansport backpack with all of my essentials I thought I would've needed for school.

"Hurry and eat your breakfast I made, then go catch the bus!" My Mom said  while turning her head to the side as she washed the dishes.

I sat down and started eating the bacon, scrambled eggs, and strawberries my Mom prepared for me. Then, I realized something...

"Mom...aren't you supposed to register me into the school here...considering that we just moved  here yesterday?" I asked her with food in my mouth trying to find some excuse to sleep in and relax.

"Your Dad already took care of that early this morning before he went to work." She gave me a slight haha look since she knew I wanted to ditch school.

Ugh I don't even know how I'm a part of this family. My parents are so organized and my little brother is like a mini Einstein.

Once I finished my breakfast I said goodbye to my Mom and raced out the door looking for the bus stop.

Honk honk

Oh hey, that wasn't that hard. I jogged over to the awaiting bus and hopped on. I hate school busses. Especially since I'm new. I don't know if there's some type of group seating between the jocks and populars or whatever so I didn't want to interfere with them.

I quickly scanned the bus for an open seat and there didn't seem to be any except one near the back. I smiled at the bus driver and walked to the back of the bus. When I got to the open seat I saw I noticed another person was siting there too.

Oh wow. Such a cliché. It was my neighbor- him.

"Um...hey can I sit here? There's not really any other seats and I'm new..." I explained myself to dreamy boy and he looked up and smiled gesturing that I can sit.

"Thanks" I said just loud enough for him to hear.

"Shawn" He said breaking our silence.

"I'm sorry, what?" I said looking over to him.

"My name is Shawn Mendes." He says smiling with those perfect teeth of his.

"Oh- my name is Lyla...Winters" I respond introducing myself too because that's how intros usually go.

"Haha do you like winter?" He says laughing at him own pun.

"I get that alot...but yes I absolutely love winter." I smile at his humor.

"Me too! I just love the snow but, it doesn't snow much here in Cali." He said fake pouting like a little kid.
I laughed at his expression.

"So, you just moved in yesterday? And you're going to school already? Wow." He chuckles.

"Yeah, my Mom made me come today. I have overly organized parents." I said with an ugh expression placed on my face.

"Was that you I saw last night near the gazebo?" He questioned me.

He remembered me...

"Yeah. I think I saw you." I think- haha playing it cool, nice job Lyla.

Screeeechh

The bus came to a stop and we all came stumbling out of the bus entering into the high school. As I stepped off the bus, I smiled and thanked the bus driver. Then, I looked up at the huge high school that read 'Sunnyside High'.

Oh great, time to get lost.

"Hey Winters!" Shawn hopped off the bus making his way over to me.
"Do you need a tour guide for the great 'Sunnyside High'!" He raises his arms pointed to the sign dramatically.

"Well, why not" I smiled looking at his silly self.

We walked straight to the Front Office to get my schedule and the woman at the desk granted Shawn permission to be my guide.

"To your left you will see a wall...oh oh! And look now, you will see another wall to tour right!" I giggled at him as he started his 'tour'.

°°°
The whole day Shawn showed me around my new high school and he even introduced me to some of his friends.

Ding ding ding

The dismissal bell rung and everyone went rushing out to the busses, but of course I just calmly walked to my bus because I am way too lazy to go running over there. Okay, it's not even that far... but still, there's no need for me to rush.

I jumped onto the bus flashing a smile to my bus driver once again and proceeding to make my way to the back of the bus where I sat last time.

"Wow bravo, Ms.Lyla Winters...you survived!" Shawn greeted me as I sat beside him in my new assigned seat.

"I sure did Mr.Shawn Mendes. Aw man, you did too? I was hoping I could have the seat to myself, darn!" I responded with sarcasm and we both smiled at eachother.

When the bus stopped at our stop we both got off and walked together on the light grey concrete sidewalk leading to our houses. It was an awkward silence at first, but of course Shawn broke that.

"Oh my gosh Lyla, you stalker! I know I'm charming and all, but wow following me to my house?" I shook my head laughing at the amount of sarcasm he has.

"Who knows? Maybe you're the one that's following me." I gave him a mysterious look followed by a smile as I looked down at my feet walking.

"Um, see you tomorrow Winters!" Shawn turned into his driveway waving back at me.

"Cya Shawn!" I waved back at him.
Then he winked bye too.
That wink killed me. A light rosy pink came upon my face as I smiled down at my shoes walking to my front door.
