Clouds of smoke filled the tiny basement. That's where Alex and Aliyah sat, the old couch in the corner of the room. "I think I'm high" Aliyah laughs, opening a Little Debbie's cake she had. "Oh really, I would have never guessed" Alex sarcastically responded, laughing a little. "Hey, Alex. Can I ask you something?" Aliyah, sat her food down and sat up straight, as she looked at him.
Alex furrowed his eyebrows at how serious she suddenly became. "Uh, Yeah. What's up?"
"Why did you even make that Hot List?" She was curious on why he would do that to Jess. They seemed like a great couple in her opinion, so it puzzled her when she found out.
Alex shook his head. "I don't know, I guess I was just mad at Jessica for not having sex with me. I feel bad I guess because I lost her, but it doesn't matter anymore, she moved on" Aliyah's mouth went into a straight line, she knew guys were assholes, but she didn't know most of them were capable of feeling bad about it. "I'm sorry to hear that" She shook her head. Alex just frowned. "Yeah, cause the story is sooo tragic," Aliyah then frowns. "Hey, I'm just trying to help" Alex sighs, once he realizes how he was acting. "I'm sorry, this isn't your fault."
Aliyah just shook her head laughing, she was too stoned to be serious. "Alex. Alex Standall, it is okay!" They both then laugh.
He glanced at her for a second as he combed a hand through his hair, he wanted to tell her why he really went to the party, but he was too afraid she wouldn't feel the same way. "Hey Aliyah," Alex slowly said, passing her the half of the joint that was left. "What's up?" Aliyah asked, her smile practically melting his heart. He had to have her, he needed to.
Aliyah pressed the neatly rolled joint to her lips and inhaled fast, taking three hits, she went to hand it back to Alex as she noticed him lost in thought, but he waved his hand. "No, i'm good" Aliyah laughed as the thick cloud of smoke, rolled from her mouth. That's when she started to cough, causing Alex to laugh. "You gonna survive, buddy?"
Alex dogged her playful slap as he chuckled. "Seriously, what is it you gotta tell me" Aliyah was in fact high, but she didn't forget he had something to say. He opened his mouth to say something but that's when Aliyah's phone went off, she quickly picked it up, her phone started blowing up. Alex shook his head annoyed, with a short eye roll. Something always came up..

From: Clay Jensen:
Meet me at Monet's
"Um, Alex. I gotta go meet Clay somewhere, I think something happened" Aliyah stands up and puts her phone in her back pocket as she looks at Alex. "You can stay here if you want, I will be right back." Alex shook his head as he followed her outside, she grabbed her keys on the way out. "No, It's cool, I should walk home." Aliyah stops by her door and looks at him. "I can give you a ride." Alex shook his head again. "No, it's cool"
Standing there for a moment, Aliyah watched him.
She then just shook her head as she got in her car. She never really talked to Clay unless they were around Jeff. So she wondered. 'What could he possibly have to tell me?' After starting up the car, she only lived a couple blocks from Monet's so it wasn't long before she was pulling up next to the spot. Clay had been standing outside, he looked devastated and out of breath. Did he run? "Clay? Are you okay?" Aliyah quickly asked. Her voice was full of concern. Clay shook his head as he regained his breath, his eyes were watery and his face was ghostly pale. "Clay. What happened?"
"Jeff is Dead"
Aliyah took a step back, the words that left Clays mouth now scrambling in her head. "How?
Clay wiped the tear that fell from his eye. "He was drunk driving"
