••Chapter 1••

Ring Ring
"Lucy, sweetie wake up!"
The light emitted by mister sun creeped through my pellucid curtains and into my room.
It's Monday.
I groggily tapped my alarm clock off and sat up, as I squinted my eyes.
"I'm coming mom!" I half yelled.
I trudged towards my bathroom. I opened the faucet and let the water stream. I hastily splashed the tap water against my face -cooling me a tad bit. I squeezed some toothpaste on my brush and started cleaning. After cleaning my teeth, I decided to take a shower.
It's Monday and I'm quite flustered about it, I wonder why. Normally, I'd just go to school without even minding what day it is. Simply because, I know nothing will be different. I'd even wonder why most people hate Mondays. It's just like the other days; you got to go to school, eat, sleep, study, watch some movie and when it's weekend you do the same things, except for going to school.
You see, people overreact at things that we shouldn't. Or that's what I think, mayhap I'm just eccentric.
Yeah, perhaps I am.
I swiftly changed into jeans and a red shirt, then snatched my bag. I jogged of the stairs and hurriedly entered the dinning room.
The sweet aroma of pancakes and honey filled my senses.
"Mhmm, that smells divine!" I chirped.
"Good morning sweetie," my mom beamed.
"Morning mom, morning Jake, Ash!" I replied, matching my moms enthusiasm.
"Yeah, morning," Ashley answered in a muffled voice while Jake just nodded.
So, you may be wondering where's my dad. Well, he's not here anymore. He's with the angels and stars above. I know he's watching us beneath him and I also know that he's happy right there.
When my dad died, we all took it melancholy. We were all so wretched. But, after half a month, I finally got my senses back and started to think that if dad was still here, he wouldn't want us to be like this. He doesn't want us to mourn over him; he wants us to be happy and go on with life. So, I told my mom and my siblings to lighten up. He's not here and we can't do anything about it. We just have to face the truth.
One day, I told Jake that since he's the only guy left in the house; he should be strong -for mom, for Ashley, for him, for us, for dad. He'll be the one to protect us from detriment. He'll be the wall of this family, now that dad's gone.
I'm the eldest so, I should be strong as well.
"Lucy! Hey, Lucy!" Ashley shouted, arousing me from my trance.
"Uh, w-what?" I stammered.
"Get up. You wouldn't want to miss the bus, wouldn't you?" Jake yelled from the door frame.
"Oh, uh. Yeah, be there in a sec," I uttered while standing up before saying "bye" to mom.
"You okay, sweetie?" my mom queried; concern evident in her voice.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine."
"Okay, be good and have fun. I love you!" mom spoke after me.
"I love you too!"

I entered the bus and rapidly sat on the chair that isn't taken. Apparently, I'm seating beside a geek. I don't usually care about people's appearance or status but, just look at her hair. It's horrid! And oh, look at her outfit and gosh, she stinks! Ew.
