••Chapter 2••
Sitting with the guys at lunch was okay. They weren't the guys I thought they were. They're all so funny and friendly, except for that guy Zayn. He's so quiet and enigmatic; so arcane. It seems like he's having his own little world. His eyes were glued to his phone all throughout lunch time. He would glance at us once in a while and sometimes scan the cafeteria, and I don't have a single clue why. But nevertheless, for the first time in forever -I still enjoyed lunch and I think they're all nice. Though I still can't understand why they bullied that kid in the hallway; it's still a mystery to me.
I'm in the locker area; once again, struggling to fit these books in. A couple of books fell out and some slipped from my hand. Cussing as I bent down; I picked it all up, but it's so hard to balance a hefty bag slinging on my back and an enormous amount of books in my hand. The books are now scattered on the floor. I huffed in frustration and fixed my disheveled ponytail. I removed my bag and lay it down. Sighing, I bent down and picked it up once more.
"Having trouble, I see," a voice with an eccentric yet ravishing accent said.
I looked up; it's Niall. He's standing in front of me, holding one strap of his backpack while the other strap just hang.
"Oh, hey," I stood up and gave him a smile.
"Need some help?"
"Uh, no. I can do it by myself, thanks."
"Stop being silly," he removed his bag and lay it beside mine. He bent down and started to pick it up for me.
"What are you doing?" I dumbly queried.
"Saving you from a drastic catastrophe," he laughed lightly while standing up.
I wore a small smile on my face and stared at him while shaking my head. I clumsily reached for the books in his hands causing the back of our hands to brush. I looked up at him just to see that he's staring right back at me. I felt something funny in my tummy. This exact scenario had happened in a book I read and I think they're called butterflies. I heard butterflies only occur when you're near with the person whom you have a crush with and as far as I know, I only met Niall so it's quiet impossible that I have a crush on him. But then again, why is my tummy feeling strange?
I pushed my thoughts away. I gently carried some of the books in my hands and uttered, "You really shouldn't have done that. I can do it by myself, I'm not handicapped."
"Asking for help isn't a crime Lucy. It's fine asking for it once in a while," he gave me a smile and loaded the remaining books in my locker.
Bitting my lip while I nodded, I slowly locked my gaze with his and said, "thanks."
"Anytime," he smiled.
I really like it when he smile; It showcases his cute crooked teeth and his eyes glistens whenever he does, making it more blue.
I smiled back at him.
"Mate come on, Liam's waiting," Harry said while clapping Niall's back and walking away hurriedly.
"Be right there,"
Harry bobed his head and shouted, "Hey Lucy!" while walking backwards.
I waved back and returned his smile.
"So, um. I guess I'll be goin' now," Niall said while scratching his nape.
"Yeah, thanks. Again."
He nodded and slung his bag on his back.
"Okay, bye. See 'ya tomorrow Lucy," he shoved his hands in his pocket.
