"Fuck!" I cursed loudly falling from the solid and uneven mattress.

My body waited for the impact of the intense burn from the carpet, yet it did not come. I was tangled in between the duvet much like a sausage roll, limbs encased in the itchy and prickly fabric that protected my body from another rude awakening. I let out a grunt of agony landing on my hip and shoulder heavily and tried to untangle myself.

I flipped the duvet that began to suffocate me off and took a deep breath, still lying on the floor but staring at the ceiling. I led there trying to gather together my dream from last night, consciousness and thoughts before getting up.

I startled myself catching a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror. It took a few seconds later for my brain to recollect why I appeared to look like this and I frowned at myself. I have short brown hair, blue eyes and a small nose that looks a little too small for my face. My hair stuck out and most of it was covering over my eyes. I almost wish that the hair could conceal my eyes, so I wouldn't have to see what I've become.

I've been edited more times than any magazine, newspaper article, or a photograph of a model has, and the out come was ghastly. I wasn't anything how I used to be, and I would do anything to re-write history.

I would have kept my long auburn, almost ginger hair, my nose that fitted my face and had a more rounded than usual end. Though I hated my nose at the time, I miss it. I miss my imperfections because, at least then I could wake up happy in the mornings.

But at least I still have my eye colour, that didn't change.

Bypassing the bedroom and bathroom mirror I stripped of my sleepwear and stepped into the shower. I turned the dial and set the water on a very high velocity and turned up the heat. The water pounded against my back loosening my muscles and allowed me to repose under the water.

As I ran my fingers nimbly through my hair I thought back to the boy I had met yesterday. For some reason he had made a small imprint on my brain. It set a smile on my face, how he diverted my thoughts and how I could only think of his rather elegant and handsome face. Withdrawing my thoughts, I washed and rinsed then switched off the water.

Promptly I seized a towel and cloaked my body, avoiding the cold air. I dried myself off hurriedly and pulled on a new attire, once I was as happy as I could be with my appearance I left my bedroom and made my descent down the stairs.

I adverted my eyes from the horrendous pictures on the walls and focused on retrieving my shoes from beside the front door. Clutching the laces of the pair of shoes, I pulled them closer and set my withering Timber lands upon my feet. I stood up and retrieved my very old and worn donated coat and slipped my arms inside before opening, stepping out and locking the door behind me.

Blend in, make friends.

Get a job, get to know people.

Reminding my self of the instructions I had been not so politely been given, I walked out of my road and set on walking along the path I trod along yesterday and off to the town centre. I hadn't been walking for too long when a gust of wind shifted the coat from covering my body.

Latching my hands onto the sides of the jacket I pulled it across me tightly and zipped it up. I walked on a little further before noticing the heightened amount of footsteps, and people shoving each other from time to time as they tried to dodge around them. I set my hair around my face, pulling it forward from behind my ear, know that I was bound to see a stranger I shakily lifted my head to overlook my surroundings.

I stood, looking skywards at the soaring buildings. I scanned the shops I was nearest too and spotted a Starbucks, Costa, Primark, Boots and an EE store. Keeping in mind that I needed to find a job I took into account what the shops would entail job wise. Starbucks and Costa were too cliche and I really don't fancy making tea or coffee for people with stupidly complex orders, nor does it look entertaining what so ever. Boots would mean I would probably need to know about beauty products, and medical remedies and things like that, so that was eliminated quickly.

That then left EE, a phone shop (AN: EE was Orange but they changed name) and that seemed ideal. I knew how to use a phone like most of the generation and I took a short technology course before the big change.

I could have a look at the other shops further into the centre but that would probably require me to be someone into fashion or has the patience to put clothes back on hangers and work on a till.

Steadily I made my way meandering through the people passing I grunted a little every time someone bumped into my shoulder. It was busy. Mind you its a city center during the weekend.

Escaping the mad shoppers I was greeted with a flare of warm air. Smiling I lifted my head up to find the main desk. I shuffled to the desk and waited for assistance.

"Hi there, how may I help you?" A female voice vocalized.

"Hi, I was hoping you had any job vacancies available? I've recently moved here and I need a job." I responded.

"Yes actually we do have a few positions available. But you are required to have a background in technology and take part in a week long course." The woman told me.

I kept my eyes on her face, yet kept my eyes from meeting hers.

I nodded me head "I took a A-Level course in Systems and received a distinction."

"Very well, you must fill out the form here, and seek a letter of recommendation from  your previous boss. Please deliver this at 1 on Monday and we shall get started." The woman said handing my an application form and some other sheets in a booklet.

"Thank you very much." I thanked the woman kindly and walking to the exit of the shop. I prepared my self for the busy people before hopping into the fast flowing mess of people.

Louis

I need to get a new phone sometime next week.
