The Awakening

Chapter 4

     I wake up to the sound of sqwaking and pecking. There are several black crows eating the trash left behind from the people that were at The Rut last night.

"Everyone is gone Deli. And I'm hungry."

"Okay we will find some food."

     We leave the blankets since they are too heavy to be carried around with us. When we get out of The Rut, we see a hot dog stand.

Ean, time for your charm.

I got this!

     Ean goes up to the man and begs the best he can. The guy shakes his head no. "I give nothin' free!" As Ean walks back he looks sad. This is the first time that his charm hasn't worked. "Why didn't it work?" Then the oddest thing happens. Ean starts to shimmer all around.

Ean... what's happening?

I don't know!

     Ean starts to change! He glows bright white, and when it recedes... he is a wolf!!

"Ean!" He looks at me and starts to trot up to me. "Ean... you have another trait!"

Deli, this is awesome! I'm a wolf!

     Ean starts yipping and jumping in circles. "Ean! Calm down, you are drawing attention!" Ean looks around, then starts growling at a group of people. "Ean knock it off!"

Deli, we need to run! NOW!

What?! Why?! Ean what is going on?

     Ean looks at me then snaps at my feet and we are running away. That group is following us, and they aren't far away!

Deli, those are the Spears! Stop! Deli, STOP!

     I look in front of me and see more! I try to slow down but I slip on a rock and fall, then one grabs me. "Let me go you filthy dirt bag! Let me go!" I struggle, and the guy tightens his hold on me and I yelp in pain.

Deli! No!!!

"Run! Run now Ean! I'll be ok!"

No! I won't leave you Delana!

Ean! You run now!

     Ean looks torn. He finally whimpers and runs away. The group that followed us follows after him, and the man holding me starts to drag me away. "Let me go! Let me go!" He was focusing on Ean, and loosened his hold on me. I elbow him in the stomach and he loosens his hold enough for me to wiggle out and run.

"No! Grab her, and get her to the car!" They chase after me. I am fast, but not fast enough. One of them grabs my arm and yanks me to the ground. Two men grab me and start to carry me away. I struggle a lot, but I am hungry and dehydrated, so it doesn't do me any good.

     They throw me into the back of a car. It has a grate all around it to block me from attacking any of them. "You just sit tight and don't fight us. We are taking you somewhere safe." The first man said. I snorted. "Be safe with you? Are you serious? You work for Satan! You expect me to belive you will keep me safe? What is your problem! You stupid mo-" One of the guys slaps me across the face, then duck taped my mouth, hands, and feet. "There, that'll shut you up!" I glare at them all.

Ean, where are you?

They haven't found me yet Deli. Are you ok?

They duck taped me. But I'll be ok Ean. I hope...

I still heard that Deli! I will kill them for hurting you I swear!

No Ean! Stay hidden. Stay safe. For me please!

Deli... I need you.
