"So, what you're saying" Carrie, my best friend whispered "is, that your super hot new neighbor saw your boobs before you even knew his name?" We were sitting at a café, eating ice cream. I took a big spoon of my strawberry bowl and raised my eyebrows. "Well, from his looks, it's not like he hasn't seen one of those before". Carrie laughed. "And, by the way, I was wearing underwear. I wasn't naked or anything" "Might as well have been" I elbowed her. "Hey! Just because you're all over Jace, doesn't mean I need a boyfriend too" She choked. "Or whatever you call that.. thing.. you have going on." I felt her stiffen beside me. "What exactly IS going on with you two?"
There was a long conversation about Carrie falling for Jace and Jace hooking up with other girls, or boys, who knew. Jace was, for a matter of fact, a really handsome guy. Though to be honest, I thought he was a jerk. Big, handsome jerk. While Carrie was going on about Jace, my phone rang. "Sorry, I gotta take this. My mum" I apologized and answered. "Yeah?" "Bailey?" "The one and only" I could literally see my mother roll her eyes. "What's up?" I asked. "I don't know if you have noticed, but we have new neighbors" she said. "I haven't" no need for her to find out about my little encounter with whoever that was. Or my breasts' encounter with him, to be exact. "Well, Nathalie just came over and, you see" "Mum", I interrupted. "Come to the point" "We're invited for dinner." "We're what?" "Be ready at 7. I expect you to wear something nice" and with that she hung up, leaving me staring at the black screen of my phone. "Well, shit"
"I can't go" I said to Carrie. "You mean you don't want to" "Same thing". The next ten minutes we discussed whether I should go or not and came to the conclusion that first, there was no way my parents would let me stay at home to avoid a guy they didn't knew I met. And second, I might as well check out what's up with that stupid smirk of said stranger. Besides, I was almost sure that he wouldn't try something in the presence of my and his parents. Almost.
"You gotta have to wear that dress" Carrie held out a black dress with three quater sleeves, way too much cleavage, cut outs at my waist and a skater skirt reaching just above my knees. "I think he already saw enough of that today" I commented dryly. "Oh, come on!" I sighed. "Just take it easy on the makeup, will you?" I knew, once Carrie has set her mind there was nothing I could do. "Don't want to look like I tried too hard"
